  • @AnniD,

Ah 'Supertramp',..i have 'Even In The Quietest Moments,..its on Tape.

Great to be able to get into the greenhouse,..i know mine was full as well,..thankfully its nearly empty now except for a few seedlings i can not identify.

Little B keeps turning up and of course i keep one eye on ''Whisper'' while feeding Little B,..yikes another worry lol.

Great that @Purplerain sorted out the posting of the Poem,..and the Picture,..both compliment the other and are fantastic,..i presumed you wanted to paste the Poem and Picture yourself so i didn't think of posting them myself as it would be under my Avatar,..so the only way for you to post was the way i suggested as you couldn't get the Picture to load,..anyway its completed and looks great.

Raining heavily here for most of the day,..no wind and a very fine shower almost like drizzle.
  • @Purplerain ,

Foxy Molly grows on people lol,..though i had two dogs before her she behaves in a different manner,..i place down two dishes of food,..one for her and one for ''Whisper'',..Foxy Molly will not touch her own food but watches ''Whisper'' eating,.. then when finished eating Foxy Molly takes over,..meanwhile ''Whisper'' starts eating the food left for Foxy Molly,..and it begins again,..when ''Whisper''is finished Foxy Molly again takes over,..she gets less food doing all this so its beyond me.

Congrats on posting the Picture and the Poem,..you did a quick job there well done.

  • Some very wet blooms from today,

    After you.

    Good morning all  :)
Lovely photos of your Little B and parent @nultyphilip224. Dad looks rather grumpy,  maybe he has the same problem Mr B has, the offspring just won't head off into the wide world.
Mr B brought his to meet me yesterday afternoon, one look at me and it squawked and flew off. I seem to have that effect on everyone.
I posted on the Anyone done any gardening thread of my achievements yesterday, such as they were.
Today's plan is to move a rose (it's only been in a couple of months and isn't that big). The sky was clear at 3.30 am  with a lovely moon, but is now cloudy again with "mizzle" in the air 🙄. I don't care, even if l end up covered in mud,  l am going to do it.
Lastly,  went to put the food in the restaurant last night, only to find Hedgehog in there, waiting!  Yet again,  l had to apologise for the late arrival. He didn't roll into a ball, just sat there in a sulk. After a while he went on his way, and OH reports that the dish is empty.
Hope all have a good Saturday .

Hi all, woken to rain again, getting so fed up with it now, what a bedraggled state the garden is in.
Those images are stunning Philip, the Delph colour is breathtaking,I also thought the prolific buds and flowers on the yellow rose were good too. But I can see you've had a fair bit of the wet stuff too, that geranium leaf is holding it like a saucer!
I think your BB pics are beautiful, how do you get so close? He will be eating from your hand soon.
I think cats always have the upper hand,my daughter's wolfhound type dog is terrified of a little grey cat she has! Not sure what that's all about, but he's probably felt the wrath of her claws.

Glad to hear you got your greenhouse cleared Anni,it was amazing to get anything done,I will look on the the other thread to see what you've been working on.

I think it's due to clear up here later,so I'll go out and see if any bumbles are in need of sugar water and a dry off!...........I feel a painting coming on!

    Have a good day all.

Good morning all. We have rain! In one way I am quite pleased but I hope it doesn't go on and on.

@nultyphilip224 The photos today are lovely and how you are able to catch little B is wonderful. It takes me back because if you remember I hand reared a little B many years ago. Your Mr B does look quite mean compared to Annies, but then, hers is a pampered little guy. What polite manners Foxy Molly has, allowing Whisper to eat first. Not many dogs would do that. She is very sweet.

When you were talking to Fran about Foxglove cuttings, do you think I could do some now as mine were well behind yours? The very best one is the one that grew behind the bins strangely. It started off peach, then turned to pale pink with the lower part pure white and I would like to try cuttings. Do you root them in water or compost? Sorry to ask again as I know you have explained it already.

@Fran IOM I was pleased to find the Anthemis Tinctoria EC Buxton on SGC as I have never been able to find them or ever buy seeds. When I was at school I had a teacher who was a lovely kind man. Many years later, I got to know him as a friend and it turned out that he was a keen gardener. He gave me an Anthemis and I loved the pale lemon colour, but it died in its third year. I have more experience now so should be able to keep them going. His name was Felix and he died last year, so they will be a nice memory of him.

@AnniD so you caught us lol 😎. Haven't you been tempted recently? I will be keeping an eye out. I am sure baby B wasn't scared of you, just...surprised that not everyone in his world is tiny with feathers.

@Valley Gardener I hope your weather is improving as it sounds as if you are getting it really bad where you are. I did some lettuce and radish so why not have a go? I like eating my own food and they come up quickly at this time of the year. What did you get up to in the art room?

Well that is time for my second coffee, a later start than usual today, but as I have it all to myself I can dodder about as long as I like. Have a good day all whatever you decide to do.

    Good Morning all.
Rather a wet one at the moment with a very strong wind but forecast to clear by this afternoon. I can see a lot of plants bending over in the allotment so hopefully they will remain standing. Got there yesterday but very wintry and just started to rain as I was leaving. The wood pigeons were there and brought their young one with them and he looked so smart. What I couldn't figure out was the fact there were three adults and the couple weren't chasing him off in spite of having their baby with them.
@nultyphilip224. Have received my Dragon's Blood and not much of it is showing red at the moment but looking very healthy. So glad you mentioned putting it in a flattish container as the "foliage" is so heavy I felt as though it would pull away from the roots so flat container it is. As you say I can take pieces off it later to grow on.
I think the Hydrangeas came from a skip! They were virtually nothing when planted out but have taken so well. I shall wait and see what happens with the colouring as I don't really mind if the blue changes to pink. Whatever happens will probably give me an indication as to what type of soil I have. Plenty of ideas there if I want to keep or change a colour. Will keep you updated on that.
Thank you for the link on "sticking keys". There doesn't appear to be anything underneath them regarding spillage or dust and if that were the case I don't think they would work at all. Lots of ideas there but then it said "Don't use your computer for two days after"! Think I would go into meltdown! Had to laugh at Foxy Molly and Whisper's eating regime. Never heard of that before.
@Valley Gardener Hope all your bedding has dried by now. Maybe you will get some sunshine soon so in the meantime enjoy your time in the art room. No sign of any grass growing yet!
@AnniD. Mr B obviously hasn't told his offspring that you are a kind person or maybe the little one is annoyed he wasn't included in the painting. Hope you get your rose moved and not get too muddy.
@Purplerain So pleased you found the plant you wanted on SGC. Lovely to have a memory of your kind school teacher as there weren't a lot around. Maybe Anni will let you off. All I have done with my foxglove cutting is put it in compost with rooting powder. As they seem to grow in strange places I may be lucky. (Nothing stranger than my pots). Can't remember what Philip's instructions were now.

I have been posting this for so long with interruptions along the way. Better finish before the day has gone. Seems to have stopped raining so waiting for the sun now.

    Enjoy your day all.

Evening everyone :) Having spent all day trying to dodge the showers and mostly failing, l got the rose shifted (posted on the Anyone done thread). Needless to say, at nearly 7pm , the sun is now shining and OH is in the front garden on his third attempt at box cutting today (bless him). I had fun standing in the garage waiting for the rain to ease off and watching Mr B attempting to feed his youngster. While he was trying to pick up the food, it was running around and getting sidetracked and he had to go chasing after it. I think it might be a female, it has very few thrush like markings and is a very light brown shade. Mr B now sits on the wall if l am in the lounge, and whistles twice for his meals. Imagine someone clicking their fingers in a restaurant and calling "Waitress !"

@Valley Gardener, did you get any painting done ?
@Purplerain hope you had a good day doddering about !
@Fran IOM, hope your weather picked up. I have been looking at the forecast and it seems to be staying the same for the near future.🙄
Hope you have all had a good day and @nultyphilip224 and Foxy Molly have had a good walk.

@AnniD you've been busy today, roses aren't the easiest to move,as I found with my rescued one.
I went to the GC today, and got treated to an Alpine/rock plant container........I listened to @nultyphilip224 s  advice to Fran 're her new Sedum, use a shallow trough type.
Well I was happy with just the pot,as I could split up the plants I already have, but OH said have new different ones,so I did. One's a hybrid which says it illegal to take cuttings of.......How can they check??
Will take a pic,it's very rustic looking, the container that is.
Made some clay cats, instead of painting.

  • @AnniD ,

Oh i agree with you little B's Dad has a fierce look about him,..not the least bit tame,..how he ever paired up with Mrs B is beyond me lol,..just presuming little B takes after its Mum for being friendly.

So your Mr B introduced you to one of his offspring,..so it didn't work out lol,..give it time,..the very Thrush like markings means its either a Youngster or a Female,..its not very helpful,..clicking of fingers ohhhhh never could abide that,..at least your Mr B whistles twice,..be it for food or a compliment  :)

I was wondering about my Hedgehogs when they are in the Hedgehog House,..in order to clean the inside,..clean straw and so forth,..how they would react to an intrusion of lifting the roof from over their head?,..if it happened too often i imagine they would move house,..i will have to work out a system to let me know if one is at home.

Despite the rain i see you got the rose bush shifted,..well done,..the soil being wet will help the move,..i seldom get the chance to look around the Forum and so it was through your post here that i got the news.
