    @Valley Gardener,

    You managed to get three nice plants,..that Jewel Of The Desert Topaz Ice Plant is a winner when it blooms,..i would look it up on Google as it doesn't claim to have any faults except it doesn't like when it is too wet,..then it becomes poorly,..Native to South Africa.

    Veronica Repens,.. classed as Super Tough.

    Sedum Blue Elf,.. is Hardy for Zones 4 to 9.

    I know what you mean thinking very wet and windy weather is a lost Summers Day,..the 1st day of Autumn comes around very quick due to days like that.

    Its 1st bloom this year from Rose ( Rosa 'Fragrant Cloud' )

    Rose ( Rosa 'Handel' )

    Those are indeed Fishing Platforms,..seldom in use unless some Fishing Club organised a Competition,..i used to use them myself some years ago but then i bought a boat so better fishing from a boat.

    Fishermen tell lies,..Right.

  • @Purplerain,

    We had heavy rain showers yesterday so i found myself quickly going to view the clouds from the back garden then from the front of the house,..when i could see the gap in the rain clouds i was off with Foxy Molly for a walk,..managed not to get wet.

    Nothing wrong with your plants in pots at all,..maybe move them around,.. like tallest at the back each side,.. then by height down to the smallest at the front  :) you could have fun doing that lol.

    Ah Photographic Competitions i stay away from,..i never hold back submitting an image in any other circumstance,..i just point the camera at what i think someone else will like,..getting it right some of the times and wrong as often lol.

    Good link about Half Hardy Perennials,..then there are Lupins if i recall the description on them correctly it was,.. a plant that is a short Perennial,..supposedly because the plant put so much energy into producing the long pointed blooms that it wore itself out quickly,..in all honestly i just go for Hardy Perennials,..granted i will have a go at something other than them when seeds are sent of an Annual or Tender plant,..though its seldom that happens.

    Antirrhinums are a very hardy plant in my garden and as you say we all know how tough a plant they are,..some of mine that were sown as seeds two years ago are still going strong,..depending on ones location and garden protection against winds and cold will result in what plants we keep.

    I can not remember if i posted my Antirrhinums in bloom just now,..some more are about to bloom very soon.

    Lupins.

    Flag Iris.

  • @AnniD,

    I know you all think i should enter the Competitions and thanks for that compliment,..its just not in me to do so,..i had access to my own Personal Military Files and while they gave praise for many things they added,..despite this man's high achievements he is not a very competitive individual.

    That picture with the Hedgehog coming towards the camera nearly made me jump,..i had turned off the light in the Sitting Room when i heard the Hedgehog chewing the cats food,..pulled back the curtain and quietly slid the door open,..pointed the camera where the food was,..then was surprised the Hedgehog was coming towards me,..i have no idea why it decided to head for the door.

    I kept my distance with the Swans,..were i on my own they don't take much heed but with Foxy Molly present they start hissing and spreading wings,..i was fishing on the rivers edge some years ago and two Swans waddled up next to me did a bit of hissing but then sat down next to me,..it was unnerving knowing how vicious they can be,..i had to move off when two more decided to join the sit down and proceeded to pull at my pocket with their beaks,..someone must have being feeding them on a regular basis,..just like in England,.. Scotland and Wales we protect our Swans,..not so in America,..in parts of South Carolina they set out Swan Decoys to attract Swans,..then shoot them,..hard to believe but true.

    In Bloom today,..Voodoo Lily,..its 51 Cm= 20 inches long.

    First Lily Blooms today.

  • @Fran IOM,

    Ah yes about the Foxgloves,..mine are now at 8 Ft 4 inches,..i don't think they will get much bigger,..i must post an update on that ''Mine's Massive'' Thread,..i will have a look at that Wildlife Photo Thread as its some time since i peeked in there.

    The Sedum ''Dragons Blood''will turn red when we get a few days constant sun,..in fact mine started to go red with the few hot days we had then rain arrived to spoil the red image,..it will be sunny again,..we hope and soon.

    I have seen days when it rained and that evening my Hydrangeas foliage was drooping,..the leaves were so dense that very little rain had got to the soil,..being in large containers the plants lost out on rain water that would have soaked along to them.

    B&Q was where i got my Builders Rubble Containers,..i went for Black or Green though i see people with all colours,..all down to taste of course lol.

    Expressions or Poses?,..from little B.

    Cape Fuchsia,..Phygelius 'Funfare Orange'

    Some Colour.

    Good morning everyone :)
    @nultyphilip224, l had never heard of Ogham writing, you learn something new every day. Glad they enjoyed their holiday although as you say,  the weather hasn't exactly been conducive to camping has it?
    Little B is getting very brave, love those various poses and expressions !  I do hope he (?) doesn't take to coming indoors while your back is turned,  that way lies disaster....
    Foxy Molly's face too -  "You expect me to believe that, do you ?". Very expressive 😁

    OH has been out this morning clearing up the neighbour's food waste from the lawn - l was watching a fox around 10 o'clock last night going through the contents of their bin, completely unfazed by me.
    Tried a couple of photos but with no luck. I watched him trot happily up the road with his treasure - as long as he doesn't decide to bury it in amongst my newly planted marigolds! Looks like he came back again later, there's probably a trail of upturned food caddies all around the estate !
    Right, Mr B has had breakfast,  prepared last night to avoid any delay 🙄. Need to get  some more bark for the front bed, and that kniphofia won't plant itself sadly. We are on the edge of the thunderstorm warning area, which probably means we won't get as much as a plink.
    Wishing @Valley Gardener @Fran IOM and @Purplerain (and Foxy Molly and Philip of course)a good day, hope you achieve all that you set out to do  :)

    @nultyphilip224.
    That is some long lily!  Everything looks so good in your garden, the Acid yellow irises are very eyecatching, well everything is!
    Foxy Mollys face is a picture,it looks like she's going in for a doggy kiss!
    Yes I would imagine the fishing is better in a boat,a bit more interesting too, with nautical things to be doing as well.  How far inland are you from the sea?

    @AnniD
    Well done on all the work you got done yesterday,I hope the marigolds will survive the influx of slugs and snails with all this rain.  Mine have been pretty much eaten!I'm tempted to put down pellets as well as neem!
    Yesterday was disastrous for my little patch,OH was mending the bird table and it fell across the Fuchsia bush,my cornflowers are all flat down on the ground, having fell with the weight of the rain on top of the new lavender, the Irises have also gone over, and the rest of the poppies have rotted off before ever flowering.I'm am so fed up with it now,I dread going out every day to see what other damage has been done!  I sorted my tulip bulbs only to find something has been eating them........just not my day.I

    I'm doing housework today!!!!!

    Have a good day all.x

    Good Morning all.
    Yesterday was a dry day but such a strong wind. Today the sun is shining and the wind has dropped. Keep seeing "storm warnings" but not quite sure whereabouts. Hope it doesn't affect us but some will be wanting the rain. Yesterday was one of those days when I couldn't do anything right and doing "silly" things I wouldn't normally do. Hope my brain is in better working order today.
    @nultyphilip224. Can't believe how tame little b has become. Have his parents deserted him now? Foxy Molly looks as though she wants you to know that now your friends have left you can just concentrate on her. What is she like with visitors? Get excited or keeps out of the way? Buddy would welcome anybody probably a burglar as well. Don't forget to post an update on "Mine's Massive" thread. Looking forward to seeing my Dragon's Blood turning red. Love those tall brown pots you have the ferns in.
    @AnniD  When you are referring to suet tubs are they the fat balls? I find a tub of those so difficult to open. Not a pleasant job for OH first thing to clean up next door's rubbish. Wonder what he (the fox) found that was worth taking. Hope you get your jobs completed today.
    @Valley Gardener. Sounds as though you had a bad day yesterday as well. I also was tempted to use slug pellets yesterday! Thought the leaves at the bottom of my foxgloves looked moth eaten and digging around the base was like a nest of slugs. Got rid of them but feel as though there are more hiding there. Don't think I shall ever bother with lupins again although I think I said that last year. When I plant out new plants I'm never sure if they are slug loving ones or not and then forget to spray the Neem. One I found looked like a skeleton. Have loads of housework to do as well. Nothing unusual.
    @Purplerain Hope you had a good day yesterday and another one today.

    After somewhat moaning I shall wish you all a good day.  :)

    @Fran IOM. Still sitting with a coffee, contemplating the day ahead!  Like you I used to have Lupins, but mine got eaten by thickly encrusted on,greenfly! So I gave up,they don't last long enough. I find Penstemons are very tolerant plants, and flower all summer into Autumn,so I swapped over to different varieties of those.Easy to take cuttings too.
    Back to the washing!

    @Valley Gardener sorry to hear you had a bad day yesterday, it seems like one thing always leads to another, doesn't it? Hole for kniphofia has been dug, it's sitting in a trug of water while I have a cup of tea and check the camera. Hedgehog seems to be coming around 10pm and then 4.30am - ish. He decided to stop for a drink before heading home.....

    @Fran IOM, before l forget (!), they are not fat balls, they are suet pellets,  this morning's record is 6 in one beak. I have filled the dish 3 times, although to be fair, he is sharing with the spuggies and the pigeons (no sign of ET). I watched Piers Morgan's interview with Harry Redknapp the other night,  where Harry confessed to having conversations with the robin in his garden.  I turned to OH and said "See, it's not just me !"  ;)
