Having lived in Paris for two years when I was a teenager I wish them well. I won't live to see the restoration but my grandchildren and great grandchildren will and that is important.
Macron claims it will be rebuilt in 5 years.  Typical comment from a politician who doesn't have a clue.  Architectural experts have put 10 years on as the shortest likely timescale.

Trump would have it done in 3 years and make the fire pay for it.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

... and he’d probably have it looking like a cross between Trump Tower and Mar-a-lago 🙄

I did titter somewhat at the prayer vigil last night. Was their god otherwise engaged when the fire was raging?

And the French left-wing is now complaining loudly about huge donations from corporate and luxury labels.   The kind that don't have customers living in social housing or on the breadline.  Will there be a "sponsored by" list in the new cathedral?   It's a bit like all those rich people in the past who bought their way out of time in purgatory by donating to mother church.

I don't understand the rush to be ready for the Olympics, I get that it's a magnificent building but why not set it up so people can see the old parts and the new works in progress give them the history and the new vision people are not stupid they understand great things take time.

After all Rome was not built in a day ! or was it  :/

It will bring a lot of people (and money) from all over the world into Paris to see it, while they’re there for the Olympics. It’s a huge financial incentive for the city.
Folk won’t be so keen to visit if it’s still shrouded in scaffolding.

I agree Dove but they can still charge and the money can be used to help the restoration why just chuck something up to please a few people for a couple of weeks when you could produce something great with more time that people will enjoy and use for the next 600 years +
