If the sort the roof and spire out in five years that’ll be good going and it will restore the Parisian skyline ... that’ll bring the crowds to the city centre ... I expect the restoration of the interior will take longer but with imagination a grand celebration when it’s all finished could be of benefit of the city.

Making the site waterproof will be their first concern now to try and protect anything that is there and salvageable, then I guess if the walls are reasonably sound the roof and spire would be there first aim to get the building permanently water tight then internal works.

Why is there always a need to get things done quickly? The original took around 100 years (1160-1260) to complete with lots of additions over the centuries after. We all need to slow down a bit!

There was a programme about the construction of La Sagrada Familia in Barcelona and engineers are now manufacturing sections of the towers from stone built into stainless steel panel section which can be lifted into place by crane and bolted together, this has increased the speed of construction so that the Cathedral will be completed by 2026.

Even with the increased speed of construction completion is still 7 years away!
