That's good service @FlyDragon. What does the rose look like unwrapped? Is the main stem snapped?

Amber Queen almost fully open, I'll have to check when exactly it started opening but it must have been nearly a month!

Attractive for a long time though while it has been opening - its a lovely glowing peach and yellow flower in person and has a really great scent.

Pleased to see that my Generous Gardener now has lots of buds on it - its the one in the shadiest position. Only just starting to get sunlight on it at late afternoon now as we near midsummer.

Royal Jubilee has a few buds opening up so hopefully have some photos of that soon!

    Lovely roses, everyone!
It has been quiet here recently, I guess the weather we had damaged a lot of blooms for most of us here.
I have two questions or topics for a discussion.
1st - Thrips!!! I have a lot of damage caused by them, mostly to lightly coloured roses. What do you do about them, is there any organic way that would work? Or will it just get better later in the season? I am removing badly affected blooms (that wouldn't open anyway) but I am at the moment leaving those that look like they could open not too deformed or browned.
2nd - Rose petals. Do you deadhead before the petals fall off or do you consider petals everywhere on the ground around roses esthetic? I think I like them around and I try to keep blooms as long as possible.
