Pleased to see that my Generous Gardener now has lots of buds on it - its the one in the shadiest position. Only just starting to get sunlight on it at late afternoon now as we near midsummer.
Royal Jubilee has a few buds opening up so hopefully have some photos of that soon!
Kew Gardens, Yr 2, now developing proper clusters (just the odd bloom last year):
Climbing Iceberg, Yr 1, finally got going. My boundary comes close to the road here so I am hoping to train it along the fence when it gets big enough:
Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.
And a few more. The first flush is usually the darkest, then the blooms pale as the heat builds. This year, the opposite seems to be happening, with the colours of the later blooms now deepening on the following:
Munstead Wood now a rich red rather than the earlier bright pink:
Wild Rover, the colour of this one has been all over the place but seems to have settled on this:
Julia Child (aka Absolutely Fabulous) is becoming a much more intense yellow to start with, but still pales prettily...
The above and other oddities I have put down to the weather. RD Braithwaite, which to my dismay went alarmingly pink... its normally such a reliable red... now has new buds that look like they might be returning to normal 🤞

So glad these roses are now their “usual” gorgeous deep pink colour and full form... the first ones this year were much less attractive (I posted on p92 of this thread...)
It has been quiet here recently, I guess the weather we had damaged a lot of blooms for most of us here.
I have two questions or topics for a discussion.
1st - Thrips!!! I have a lot of damage caused by them, mostly to lightly coloured roses. What do you do about them, is there any organic way that would work? Or will it just get better later in the season? I am removing badly affected blooms (that wouldn't open anyway) but I am at the moment leaving those that look like they could open not too deformed or browned.
2nd - Rose petals. Do you deadhead before the petals fall off or do you consider petals everywhere on the ground around roses esthetic? I think I like them around and I try to keep blooms as long as possible.

Amber Queen almost fully open, I'll have to check when exactly it started opening but it must have been nearly a month!
Attractive for a long time though while it has been opening - its a lovely glowing peach and yellow flower in person and has a really great scent.
