Which one do you think? This afternoon looks to be the only dry patch for several days. Hopefully the ground isn’t too sodden, we had really heavy rain last and it is still lightly raining now.

Thanks @edhelka, yes I guess it’s too young for a proper judgement yet, but I think training it up a trellis/along a fence is the way to go. I suspect I will do my usual and order it and then decide what to do! Great way to visualise your roses in situ @Mr. Vine Eye, personally I like Gabriel Oak more on it’s own (pic 3) as it is such an amazing colour. I guess It will be juxtaposed against Lady of Shallot from certain angles, so it depends if you like that colour combo or not. One person’s clash is another’s great contrast!

@Mary370 ... wow... nice lot of roses from Style's ... hope they do well for you.. I think you've ordered more than I have this autumn...   hope you show some photos of progress next summer...

@Mr. Vine Eye ... very clever to do that... very nicely done....  personally the one top right would do for me as the darker coloured rose splits the two pastel varieties... it also complements and contrasts with the roses directly on the opposite side, on the right of picture...  but it's up to you, and we shouldn't worry too much about colour clashes with roses... with our often cloudy weather..... it's good to have some strong colours reaching out to you, I think...
...have fun today planting your roses... and let us know how you get on...

@Mr. Vine Eye, I like the design with Gabriel Oak on its own and two pink ones incorporated with other roses. The pink ones on its looks lost while Gabriel oak become a center point.

and you have given me this great idea of putting photos on document to decide how to best to place roses in garden.

  • They look like good ones, alphabetical order - Emily B, Eustacia V, Gabriel O and Vanessa B

First two are really good, 5 canes from the base each. Just soaking them.

@Mr. Vine Eye I like Emily in the bottom left, I like how you combine purples and apricots there. And Emily has apricot in it more than Eustacia, but also pink and having Eustacia next to it is good. And Gabriel on its own.

  • Theyre in the ground, I can always move them next autumn like I have done this one, if I don’t like it.

To be honest I thought all the combinations looked nice that’s why I was struggling to decide.

Top photo is in that corner, Ive done GO and EV - GO is nearer the wall

Bottom photo is VB on the left near the rudbeckia and EB on the right.

Garden is still very much work in progress, only started planting things in it properly this last year. It looks really messy at the moment in places!
