@edhelka … regards 'Boufarik' your guess is as good as mine, but from what I can gather it's a rose from Algeria that is most likely grown in the town of Boufarik which is famous for its roses and oranges... ...pure speculation on my part, but I suspect it may have been a rose imported there by French colonialists from the 19th C and perhaps renamed locally as The Boufarik rose... supposing the original i.d. or breeder unknown or lost to history... or it could be one they bred locally ...
..lol... yes we continue to buy roses when we're all out of room... but I have a space for Florence Ducher amongst my Bourbon roses... the other two will stay in pots... I grow quite a few each year in cheap plastic pots, in the greenhouse or outside.. as a kind of 'cutting rose garden'... they will never go in the ground but I use them for vases... this rose from Algeria may not like our climate so it might prefer the greenhouse...
….I'm never out of room whilst I have a decent sized plastic pot....
I have posted it in another thread but since this bed is for my new roses, i am copying it here for help.
I need to widen a new long bed around 100ft x 6ft with some curved areas wider than 6ft.
I can dig the turf but i i dont have anywhere to hide dug up turf. I cant really buy enough compost to pile much higher than current lawn level. I tired digging up an area and grass root+soil was almost 6-10 inch thick.
Shall I lay cardboard on turf and just cover with compost and plant on top? Shall I dig up turf, lay it soil side up and turf side down in the dug up area and cover with layer of compost and plant? I cant buy sleepers or any thick edging material to create raised bed.
...oh my goodness don't ever throw away lawn turf, it's the best stuff ever.... I made a whole rose garden using it.... it gives great results !... I had very little top soil so I dug out the turf, put it grass side down, and chopped lightly... don't worry what it looks like, there is no need for cardboard.. it will soon rot down... some grass will grow through but you just hoe or rake it away..
...also, when planting your roses, do place a 1 foot square piece of turf, grass side down, and chopped into quarters, at the base of the planting holes... it works wonders... the weeds in it, roots and all, provide essential mycorrhizae....
Thank you. You have saved me from a lot of hard work of carrying heavy dug up turf and creating a huge pile next to my summer house which would have been in full sight.
...no need to wait,... get planting.... if you have dug over the ground and upturned the turves, then when you plant, just chop the turf up and mix it in, with some under the rose... all your best topsoil is right underneath the layer of grass.. that's how I did it...
Thanks for the tip about Beales and Black Friday, @Marlorena, I will make a note of that. Postage here for one or two roses makes them expensive. I’m going to order Ivor’s Rose and am debating whether to try Sandringham... @edhelka’s initial report on it sounds promising!

@Nollie .. Beales usually do a discount for the Black Friday weekend which is 29th November this year.... so best hold on for that..
