@moragb1 … that's ok.. if you've got the mycorrhizal, just use it.. no harm …

@Janie B  hi Janie... all very personal picking clematis, but with Aloha I would pair that with 'Niobe'.. I have this one with a light pink rose.. can be treated gr. 2 or 3.. and I think it looks nice.. not too overpowering... with Blush Noisette. I have Princess Diana, but you could use Prince Charles for a different colour.. BN is strong enough to take a vigorous clematis..  with St Swithun, I like 'The Vagabond' it's one of my favourite clematis.. repeats flower quickly after the first main flush...  don't forget to pinch out growing tips on clematis.. they soon respond with more shoots from leaf axles further down...
….those are some of my favourites... others have theirs too... all good fun !.. happy choosing … oh and thanks !...

I wish this forum had a Like or a Thanks button. There have been lots of times just on this thread where I've read something or seen something that I've found interesting or helpful but didn't want to interrupt the flow by making a post.

I think it's the only forum I've ever used that doesn't have a means of showing approval for an individual post without having to write out a message to say so.

    - I forgot to say yesterday that I had a sniff of Rhapsody in Blue now it's opening and it smells lovely! Really sweet fragrance and it clung in my nostrils for quite a while after. I could still smell it when I came back in.

My first sniff of rose from my own garden  :)

I love the walled garden at Burton Agnes Hall. They have a lovely collection of plants and a really great planting style. I some photos of roses that were blooming there now - they had many. Unfortunately the photo of my favourite one didn't take! But I have three photos and an accidental  video of the name label  :D

It was Francesca which looked very healthy there, few thorns and lovely loose double almost single creamy apricot flowers with a nice medium tea scent.

@Mr. Vine Eye please could I ask how tall the Francesca was that you saw growing? I'm glad you thought it seemed healthy.

I have had my eye on it for a little while for the colour and (hopefully) eventual size and would appreciate your opinion.

It must have been a reasonable age the bottom of the plant was very woody - overall plant was very leafy with lots of flowers though.

I think it must have been somewhere around 5ft - 6ft in height. But it was either growing naturally upright or had been pruned so it wasn't  as wide - Must have been within 4ft wide.

Looked like a very attractive plant.

@Mr. Vine Eye .. totally agree about the absence of a 'like' button... a little 'like' goes a long way... especially when we're all busy and don't always have time to respond fully..

Nice roses... I've heard Burton Agnes is good.... please show some more photos if you have any...

I would like a "like" button too. Another forum I take part in has it and it's very useful. A smiley won't do unless you post it immediately after the post you like which often isn't possible. I've liked a lot of the rose photos on here but when I left it a couple of days there were too many other posts in between. I don't know if anyone saw my roses on page 85. No one knows unless someone makes a comment.
