Tea roses will keep pumping out the blooms until the weather turns severe... 'Mme. Antoine Mari' is one of the best for our climate, and warmer zones..
Graham Thomas at Burton Agnes this afternoon. Lovely flowers - not much scent.
I love the gardens there but the only problem is that many of the roses are put in the middle of very deep borders so there's no way to get near them for a sniff. This one was right by the path.
@Daniel Rutherford .. no Daniel I have not, but I would very much like to... I hope you give it a try, I love the colour changes it goes through, according to the temperatures... a vigorous and beautiful rose.. ...I've ordered Duchesse de Brabant...
Hi all, remember a few of you ordered roses from TCL and were waiting. I did so too based on the recommendations in this forum (thanks all for the contribution) and they arrived today hale and healthy. Now the planting begins! Pic attached.
..don't they send out great roses... as good as anything you get over here.... bit dry but they'll soon recover won't they... well worth it and you got them nice and early too...
@Daniel Rutherford … yes I ordered Liv Hope, should get it next month... it'll be going in a pot permanently I think.. I hope it's scented...
...I want to put an order in with a French nursery but I'm holding off because of all this uncertainty...
@Daniel Rutherford ordered them some time in Sep. I think. I didn’t hear anything, not even a confirmation email (so don’t have the order date), until I got a mail informing they were shipped along with the invoice and a request for payment.
@Marlorena, yes a few were a bit dry. But I soaked it for a few hrs an planted half of them. The other half goes in tomorrow! I usually get Bare root roses from a place near me that sells DA (for a tenner) and other bare roots (sixer) when you buy 3 or more. As you say got these from TCL, mainly to plant them early as they don’t get them till mid Nov.
Edited to add the independent nursery I order from, in case someone wants to order fewer roses (they do free shipping). As expected more expensive than picking it up from the nursery. But as far as I can tell, still works out cheaper than others and their quality is second to none.
Yeah I haven’t decided whether my LH will go in a pot or in the ground @Marlorena so might try ur method of keeping it in a pot for the meantime until I decide!!
@Alchemist makes sense cause I think I placed my order at beginning of October so might get an email next week or so!!
