How lovely to catch up on all the roses after nearly a week’s absence!

Good to know about iceberg, @Daniel Rutherford, mine has is slow to get going too.

Wild Rover - more pink than purple, but relaxed and pretty:

Julia Child, again, repeating well, lovely clear yellow and, like WR above, attractive, open bloom style:

@Busy-Lizzie, would you believe it, LEH is making a bid to stay - after all those horrible insipid ice cream colours, the new blooms look much better, almost normal!!

Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.
  • Mystery rose I think I planted last year? Can anyone identify?

@Nollie I'm glad your Lady Emma has picked up.

My French roses are looking very battered after the gales and heavy rain. The first flush is nearly over.

Mr Vine Eye, I like the colour of your Ghislaine de Féligonde, want to buy one from Peter Beales for OH's Norfolk cottage. We go there on Sunday. But I hope it stays peachy, didn't really want it yellow like Marlorena's.

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
  • I planted an iceberg climber late last year and a Rambling Rosie this year.  Both have established and are beginning to climb up, there are no buds - if they formed I would nip them off this year, however will they both come into flower next year?

My David Austen rose ‘Tuscany Superb’ was delivered like this at 7.30am.  Hope there’s not too much harm done.  :/

If there is a lot of breakage, take a photo and send the pics along to DA CS.  At the prices they charge, you should receive a plant in good condition, and they should be responsible for the carriers they choose to deliver their plants.

Thanks, it looks ok mostly, but half the soil was out of the pot, not good.  I’ve sent an email and won’t be ordering more until I get a decent response!  Shame, I was excited about this one!

Wow, fair play to DA, they’ve just called me, refunded my delivery costs and offered to replace the rose if I think it’s damaged beyond recovery.
