They're good those wire anchors. I was unsure about buying them due to the cost and how good they'd be.
But they do hold well. I got a 6 pack I was using them to erect three lengths of wire, spaced 60cm, across the fence for cordon fruit trees. But I'm planning to move the trees to the allotment.
I could do with getting some more so I can have an extra 2 wires in between. Then I can use it for climbers.
That means I need four, but they only come in packs of three.
I might contact them as I know from when I emailed them last time that if you happen to have wonky posts where one side of the post is narrower than the other, they will mix up more than one size type of anchor to your specification before they send to you.
Just a single Ebb Tide! But it's my first one from this rose and with such rain everything is covered in black spots so had to get excited about something. Ali baba climber just does not stop flowering. Its floppy though
...beautiful roses @Ffoxglove … I've held off on Ebb Tide for some time, but I do like your Ali Baba... I keep hearing good things about this rose.. and all nicely potted up there...
@Mr. Vine Eye .. thanks for the info... good to know...
...you don't have to.. they should defoliate on their own, but if there are any left in Spring, I just snip them off at pruning time... but they will fall off naturally when new growth arrives.. ...manual defoliation of roses is a custom more reserved for those who garden in hot climates where roses stay evergreen... it's used to force dormancy which is often necessary for some types of roses...
I love Bourbon roses and one can see the influence in this rose with the foliage, peduncles and buds...
Yes, I can see that, thank you for the photos.
Here is an open bloom. The fragrance is to die for, I think the best I've ever smelled in a rose. The base is old rose but it is much more complex with fruity, floral and sweet notes, I can't describe exactly what's there but I love it.
And the plant (next to the Scented Garden... it's quite possible I will have to move it next year but I hope the Sandringham will be willing to climb up the trellis). I will do more photos later this week with more blooms open.
Hi all, these may not be great pics but these roses are making me smile! It's my first year gardening and picked up some cheap David Austin Roses from a GC that was changing brand. I'm in love with roses I just found out! @Marlorena hasn't helped my addiction and you guys with these beautiful pictures. @edhelka is the Sandringham a Peter Beales rose or...???
