@Janie B, its coming back to me slowly... after a couple of years, Rozanne puts down a very long tap root and therefore maybe competes too much with deep rose roots. Mine was quite biddable too, to start with!
@Mr. Vine Eye, I bought Lady of Shallot as a shrub rose (I don't think there is a climbing version) but she does want to climb so needs some support or pretty rigorous pruning to keep to a vaguely shrubby shape. Gorgeous tho, one of my fave Austins.
Tricky one, although pink roses have green leaves there is something about pink and green together that's a bit uhh to me, so I would go for blue or black @B3. I would like it in black but I’m not going to ‘like’ it
Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.
Lovely roses. I had family visiting here (the first time in this house) but was able to check this thread and Marlorena's thread regularly, it's becoming my daily ritual to check it here
@emsgrdn I love your Therese Bugnet, she looks happy and healthy.
Desdemona beautiful as always, I now really want this rose.
And thanks to all sharing from DA's and other gardens.
Finally a sunny day here in North Wales, after five days of rain. Bad luck for my family - five days visit and five days bad weather. I wanted to show my roses to my mum, mostly to get her to love English roses but they weren't flowering yet. But at least this rose opened today, the day they were leaving.
Mum in a million, a.k.a. Millie, a renaissance rose, very fragrant
These roses are two years old and starting to flower well. yellow rose:maigold yellow rose with red foliage:lady hilingdon pink rose on arch:zephirine droughin the other pink rose: Gertrude Jekyll
my favourite rose is lady Emma Hamilton-great flowers, red foliage and the best scent! Not in flower yet
Beautiful roses @Busy-Lizzie. I especially like the colour and form of Pink Cloud, a rose I'd not heard of before.
@DB gardener your rose, Lady Hillingdon (?) is simply stunning. I love the dark stems, buds and new leaves against the pure gold of the blooms. One for my wish list I think.
I don't know what these two are. The first was planted about 27 years ago, a tallish shrub and had got a bit neglected so I pruned her rather heavily hoping to encourage growth but she's gone all weedy. Smells wonderful.
The second was a cutting I took years ago but never knew the name, a climber but always gets black spot etc and doesn't like heavy rain or hot weather. Also very scented.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
