@Janie B, its coming back to me slowly... after a couple of years, Rozanne puts down a very long tap root and therefore maybe competes too much with deep rose roots. Mine was quite biddable too, to start with!

@Mr. Vine Eye, I bought Lady of Shallot as a shrub rose (I don't think there is a climbing version) but she does want to climb so needs some support or pretty rigorous pruning to keep to a vaguely shrubby shape. Gorgeous tho, one of my fave Austins.

Tricky one, although pink roses have green leaves there is something about pink and green together that's a bit uhh to me, so I would go for blue or black @B3. I would like it in black but I’m not going to ‘like’ it  ;)

I'm leaning towards pearly black, but unfortunately there isn't a leaning towards icon😊
    In London. Keen but lazy.
  • These roses are two years old and starting to flower well.
    yellow rose:maigold
yellow rose with red foliage:lady hilingdon
    pink rose on arch:zephirine droughin

Albertine, I planted her in 1991, but she's soo prickly.

Gertrude Jekyll, she's young but also sooo prickly!

Beautiful roses @Busy-Lizzie. I especially like the colour and form of Pink Cloud, a rose I'd not heard of before.

@DB gardener your rose, Lady Hillingdon (?) is simply stunning. I love the dark stems, buds and new leaves against the pure gold of the blooms. One for my wish list I think.

I don't know what these two are. The first was planted about 27 years ago, a tallish shrub and had got a bit neglected so I pruned her rather heavily hoping to encourage growth but she's gone all weedy. Smells wonderful.

The second was a cutting I took years ago but never knew the name, a climber but always gets black spot etc and doesn't like heavy rain or hot weather. Also very scented.
