  • I have both Arthur Bell (it is a paler yellow) and one of the Celebration . Both are good growers and repeat flowering that are easy to keep tidy. Just remember they don't come to their best for a couple of years.😁

Oh thanks @Victoria Sponge, @Mr. Vine Eye and @purplerallim! Will also keep an eye out for Arthur Bell too. This is all new to me and OH but we are up for a challenge now and what better than to do something we’ve never done before😁Should be interesting.

Be warned, roses are addictive! I’ve gone from none to 15 in a year - in a small garden that’s a lot of space given over to them, although you can cram more in if you have climbers.

  • Now is a good time to plant.

It sound so like you have bought Golden Wedding, Arokris is just the “thingy name”

Sorry thingy is the best I can muster - spent the morning at a coppicing workshop and I’m cream crackered!

Golden Wedding is the commercial selling name... 'Arokris' is the Breeder's Code name, which you don't need to take any notice of...

..yes it's the same rose... the Breeder's Code differentiates it from any other rose called Golden Wedding..
...  it's a very popular rose obviously because of the name....  I hope you enjoy your rose and perhaps obtain one or two more in the future...

  • I supposedly don't like roses,  but I have gone from one in the last garden to six already in this one, plus at least another three planned in spring.🙄😁 I know to alot of you rose lovers on here it's not many, but I haven't finished yet! 😁

Yes that’s the “thingy” I was looking for!

@purplerallim - I think the only reason I thought I didn’t like roses was because of the ways I’d seen them planted.

I went to one garden a few days ago we’re they had a very formal rose garden - different colours arranged in separate beds with box hedging around and paths. Pretty in its own way at the right time of year - but hideous now - all defoliate with blackspot, a few flowers around but it just looks like a bunch of thorny sticks in the ground with the odd flower on top. Enough to put anyone off them.

However so many roses, when they’re planted in mixed borders with complimentary plants or in nice pots, or covering a wall, look simply stunning!

And the way they fill a garden with scent is incredible.

  • You should get a nice blue one to go with it like mine @Hazel-1 😁

I will be close to 40 soon and I don't know if I would call myself a rose lover. Maybe a rose crazy :)
