So many wonderful roses here and so many I wish I could have the space to grow. I have four roses and, apart from a patio rose, this is the first one to bloom.

@Marlorena It is, yes. Sorry, I thought I’ve written the name under the photo. I really like it, but it’s a young rose still (planted last year in the summer), so I can’t say much about it. Beautiful flowers and leaves.

PP -I've got the same Alissar rose in a pot, a rescue one for a fiver. I'm never quite sure whether I like it or not. The jury's still out.

Can I also just say what a fantastic range of lovely roses posters are showing, I feel like rushing out and digging up my existing garden to plant more roses.

Sorry, forgot to add that in my Hilliers mag delivered today, there's an advert for David Austin Rose Talks at Hilliers Eastbourne, Botley, Sunningdale and Chichester on 17th & 18th July, tickets £10 if anybody's interested. Bit too far for me to go unfortunately.

I agree, plus there are rose choices I made in my more ignorant days when I knew little beyond David Austin, that I would not make now. Trouble is, you invest so much time in them and they only really come good (or not) in year three, so ripping them out seems a terrible thing to do. If I had my time again, I wouldn’t have planted the following:

Harlow Carr - the right size for it’s place, but too wishy-washy and floppy.
Lady Emma Hamilton - a really great rose, sturdy, bushy, good repeater, but the bloom colour is just ‘off’ to me.
Darcy Bussell - nice blooms, but straggly growth and always the first to get bad blackspot.

Are there any roses others have regretted buying?
