I've spent many years trying to control this right rose in the wrong place. This year I thought, b***** it just get on with it.Let's see what you can do. I give in. Well it doesn't look quite what I'd like but it's okay. I'll go and knock my head against a different brick wall for a change.
@Big Blue Sky .. that's a pretty rose.. do you know the name of it please?.. thanks..
Thank you @Marlorena it is one of my favourites. Its name is Susie. I grow it in a large container, hopefully it will be enough for a while as I have no room for it in the garden, but so far it is quite happy. It is sitting in a very protected corner, so hardly looses leaves over winter. In one of your pots you mentioned that in warm climate leafs need to be removed manually as otherwise the rose won’t flower profusely next summer. I think this is what happened to this one, as there wasn’t as many flowers last summer compared to the summer before when I just got it. So last winter I removed all leafs and hopefully this summer will be a bigger success. But it is starting quite well, lots of buds already. So looks like the trick has worked.
Likewise your Mme, IP, @Alchemist! On my list for the next bare root season because of the scent, as my sense of smell is not great. Plus I am expanding my horizons away from DA. I see you have it trained on wires, I was contemplating trying it as a lax shrub, but I suspect I will need to find a space to wall/fence train...
Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.

Second year Gertrude jekyll... Pleased with her as seems very healthy with nice blooms. Beats her older sisters who are in their 4th years
Caught that growing from Malvern Hills. In a really awkward place - I dug down with my fingers and took it off as low down as I could get.
