Well that’s been entertaining, reading about your childhood memories.  I don’t recognise any of them of course. 😳😁. By the time we got TV, I was a young adult living away from family, especially when living in the nurses home at the back of the hospital where I worked. No TV there!

Dove, you really had me scratching my head about multiple sons until I read Wonky’s comment 😁.

All your stories about the various rescue teams had me thinking about our fire fighters. They are all made of the same, brave stuff. We often have a laugh when remembering that one of our “city” friends asked Hubby how much he got paid for fire fighting. He has no concept of country folks rolling up their sleeves and helping neighbours in need, on a voluntary basis.

Night night all. Hope your weather settles down.

    Good morning all  :). G’day Pat :)

    Cuppa anyone? ☕️

Still jolly blustery here but not enough to disturb my sleep 😴   I know it’s worse elsewhere ... hope everyone and their gardens are ok. The Met Office are saying the worst will come mid-morning-ish.  Take care everyone.

We have to make an early start as the plumber is coming at 8:30 to fit a new washbasin in the bathroom. Don’t want him to catch me in my jimjams 🙄

Morning Dove and those to come/afties, evening Pat.
Rain/hail was fairly spectacular here all evening and into the night. Thunder and lightning too. I like a good hoolie  :D
It's still blowing and blustery but the rain's eased and it's bright, until the next lot comes in later.
Hope the plumbing job goes ok. It could be worse - at least you had jim jams on...

    Morning all.
Hubby's birthday but the weather is foul so he can't be bothered going anywhere.

Please wish him Happy Birthday from us,   At least it’s not going to rain. Today, that must be a bonus, even if you can’t stand up in the wind.🌬

Perhaps fit yourselves with a good bungee, Hosta....
Enjoy the day anyway. Cake and beverage of choice  :)

    Happy Birthay Hosta's OH.
Another rescue overnight by the coastguard helicopter. Six French fishermen airlifted off from the seas round Lands End. The lifeboats went out to try to get a tow on but seas too rough.

    Hi all.
This seems a pretty bad storm, still raging. As far as i can tell none of the big trees are down, but I am not venturing out.
Happy Birthday to your OH @Hostafan1.
Hope @Lily Pilly is ok. this morning.
May get some seeds sown today, as I can make as much mess as I like for the next few days.

Happy Birthday to your Lovely Hub 😘  @Hostafan1 🎂
Hope his day is special despite the weather ((hugs))

Glad you’re still in one piece @islander. Hold on tight 😉

Rather seems that those fishermen underestimated the storm, as did the mountaineers ... 😔
As we said yesterday ... there’s some real heroes out there ... a helicopter rescue in those conditions must have been incredibly difficult 🎖

Good morning.  Happy birthday Hosta hubby.

No Gareth here but his shirt tails are flapping about a bit.  Dry tho so OH has just gone out to dig more of my new U bed.  I shall spray 2 radiators, again, and then sew.  Patchwork homework for tomorrow.

Thanks for reminding me Dove - need to chivy up our plumbers who are due to come and fit a new tap on the downstairs loo basin, connect a handy but otherwise useless outside tap on the terrace wall and fix a leaky outside tap in the garage.  I reckon OH could do that one but he won't.  How hard can it be?

Stay safe everyone.   Hope you don't lose trees, greenhouses, anything else precious.
