    :D

We went out this morning, Post Office, food for Alexa cat, ink for the printer, canes for the garden. Then hung out the washing and was going out to plant stuff in a veg bed. But hay farmer turned up so planting was delayed, meant lavender hedge trimming will have to wait for tomorrow. I had to tidy up the horse shelter then take the string off the big round bales.

Then I planted and sowed. Had bought red edged oak leaf lettuces, spinach and Savoy cabbage plants at the GC so I planted them. Planted red onion sets. They are expensive to buy in the SM. Sowed mange tout and sugar snap peas and rocket, 2 sorts. I looked up Savoy cabbage as I haven't grown it before and OH likes it. Most sites said it is for autumn and winter and that you plant it out in June. Yet the GC had it ready for planting now. Been a nice day, sunny periods.

    Ah - the mojo...
a little known creature who can disappear in a flash but often takes its time coming back. He is known to dislike miserable weather, annoying ailments and any worries. He can be tempted back with fresh air, good food, laughs and good news.
For those who are missing him - he sometimes pops back when you least expect, and if he doesn’t stay long - enjoy that brief time as he might decide to try again.

I am currently reading a book about the Grey sisters, the ill fated Lady Jane Grey (Queen for 9 days) and her sisters. It seems that the family home was Bradgate,  North of Leicester. It seemed a nice day so we went to have a look. The park (medieval deer park) is now owned by Leicester county council, and the house is a ruin, but we had a nice walk by the river. There are lots of really old oak trees. I think we will  go back again when the leaves are out.  Bess of Hardwick married her second husband (Sir William Cavendish) in the chapel here. You can just imagine her looking out on the Park here, before deciding to build Chatsworth.
In bad weather, when we were at school, we always used to get to sing a hymn about men in peril on the sea.   As Mansfield is about as far from the sea in any direction as you can get, and we only went to the seaside in nice summer weather, the meaning kind of passed me by. In later years, when I was out on a RIB near Lands End, and the weather could change in a blink of an eye, I got to understand it more.
Those Lifeboatmen and the Helicopter Rescue from Culdrose had my undying admiration.  I always hoped I would never need them, but it was comforting to know they were there.

Ditto with Mountain Rescue for me, fidget.
Glad you're happy Wonks - long may it continue :)
Feet up for the night for me now - it's blowy and wet outside, but as it's coming out of the south, I can't hear it in the lounge  :)
Keep cosy everyone, and have a good night.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

Busy day for me - sewing for patchwork this morning then patch group i the pm and then mosaic from 6 to 8pm.  Home at 8:30 to shepherd's pie bubbling away to itself.     Painting tomorrow and most of this week but hoping to sow some chilies and toms in between coats.

BL - I buy Savoy cabbage in plugs in spring and pointy cabbage too and broccoli and celeriac and they do fine.  Sometimes I pot them up into 4"/10cm pots to grow them on before they have to face the elements.  I buy more later so we get a succession.

Wonky - more power to your elbow.  Enjoy.

Huge admiration here too for RNLI and mountain rescue types but I do think people who've been terminally stupid/unrpepared/ill-equipped then get into a position where others have to risk their lives to rescue them should have to pay a hefty fine and get their heads seen to.  Having an accident or unforeseen weather incident is one thing but someone who goes up Snowdon in flip flops (seen on one rescue programme) is unnacceptable.

    Morning all 😀

Rotten weather here, but not as bad as some folks.  Glad to hear your extremes are over Pat.

Hope your mojo is not lost, but just in disguise Pdoc .......sometimes it does that, just to be pesky 😜

Off to Nottingham on the train 🚂 today.  It was Chicklet’s birthday yesterday, but she had a day full of lectures and seminars, so we are celebrating birthday boxing day instead 🎉. Nice lunch planned and lots of chat.  Very excited 😆
