Summer pruned outdoor grapes as well as the ones in the greenhouse. No rain yet but forecast for tonight.

Rained heavily in the early hours then steadily until about 9.30am and has just started again. Not done much again today as still suffering with stiff painful shoulders so just deadheaded some roses and tied in clematis.

Not that much today...removed some side shoots on the toms and gave everything in the greenhouse some CalMag.

Peppers are really starting to grow now and are looking good.

Went out and discovered my black dahlia has been eaten down to the stalk overnight by slugs!
Must stop buying more plants, repeat, must stop buying....

Still deadheading roses, a daily job at the moment. Not able to do much else.

It's been raining, sometimes absolute deluges, for over a month now.  It's been colder than average and though hardy perennials are doing ok with the cool wet weather, vegetables are not. Definitely a frustrating year so far, but I'd rather have this than the drought we had last year.  The killing frost we had back in the beginning of May has had an enormous effect on the orchards around here, too.  Many won't be able to recover this growing season, which is a shame.

Cut down my massive Lupin. I did it last year on the same day and by mid July it had regrown and was flowering again.

Trimmed some of my fennel as it had gone bonkers.

Did some deadheading and cut back a euphorbia that had become out of hand and ended up prostrate after the recent deluge.

Pulled out about a million VB and fennel seedlings.

Painted the outside of the utility room and also next door’s.

Re-sanded my drive as I lost a bit in Sunday’s monsoon.

    Tired now.
  • May I ask what VB is, @TheGreenMan ? (Verbascum?)

    I my garden.
