  • One day out won't matter. It is still 17th in some part of the world.
    Just (it's 11:20am here,)

@purplerallim  , lemon curd one of my favourite spreads 😁
  • I would count it @GWRS 😁

As would what I have done this morning. I took a cutting from my Lime tree two years ago, and today have used the four first limes from it to make lime curd. Not a full batch as small ish limes, but they are gold to me as I love lime curd!

Oops I just noticed the wrong date!😊
Well done. How satisfactory that must feel, I love lime marmalade, as well as any curd.
  • The original tree was a prolific producer @Joyce Goldenlily but I put it outside one summer and it was attacked by an apple tree bug, and never recovered,  so took a cutting which is growing,  but hasn't the health of the original yet.
There is nothing nicer than home made jams and curd!

Wet out today so I've made chilli jelly from my home-grown chillies. Just need to label them when it's cooled down.

Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Soil type: sandy, well-drained
  • Your chilli jam looks good as well.
Whenever I make preserves of any kind, from produce I have grown myself, I always feel so pleased with myself and when I eat it have a ridiculous sense of satisfaction and achievement. I still have a string of dried chillies hanging up in the kitchen which I grew about 5 years ago. They are like tiny mini explosions so are used sparingly which is why they have lasted so long.
  • I was boxing up odds and sods from the shed. I even filled a watering can with half-bricks, split lengthwise, to put planters on.
Still, the box was below the max weight of 20kg.
Also, cleared the lawn (as best I can) of sycamore seeds. Okay, so why bother when this time next week, the house will have new owners?!
Because it's habit, and because I want to leave the place as I would wish to find it.

We kept our old garden tidy when we moved @rowlandscastle444. Within the first six months the new owners stripped everything out apart from a beautiful Acer tree and were left with a bigger lawn, a seating area and our old shed. 😢They took the greenhouse down, got rid of a rocky area, took up paths, the lot. So I wouldn't worry too much about your garden now.
  • Oh dear! They say you should never go back once you have sold a property.
When I went back to visit my old neighbour she took me down her garden to look over the fence into my old garden, which the buyers said was the reason they bought the house. It was unrecognizable.
The rockery and small pond had gone and a huge concrete koi pond had been built. The borders had been emptied and lollipop standard roses put in. I just reminded myself, it wasn't my garden any longer. My neighbour was more upset than I was! It is heartbreaking when you think of the money you spent on plants and the time and effort you put into your plot.
