Bark mulched one of the borders at last. Potted-on Hollyhocks and edged the circular border under apple tree ready for mulch. Also swept and lifted some of potted Daffodils into a sack to die back, the pots will be for the vegetables now and then swapped again in Autumn.
My garden and I live in South Wales.

Was out all morning yesterday at GC and Newark Garden Show. Bought a few bits. Replacement Fushia as cold killed off the ones in the greenhouse , 2 White Dicentra, and a couple of Happy Days Dahlia. Also treated myself to a new garden ornament, a metal dragon. Hubby cut front lawn, and I crashed, when we got back.
As I knew it was to be wet today, decided to clear the freezer yesterday of the remaining tomatoes from last year, so put what was left into pans to defrost , two three litre pans! Who knew! 🤦‍♀️ so now I have six boxes of reduced tomatoes to go back in. If @Sheps can do pies , then I can do sauce. 😁

I bet it tastes gorgeous @purplerallim I've never had a tomato sauce made from fresh tomatoes, I might have to give it a go 😋
  • @Sheps Ilove your shading. I would like to get that type, where did you get it? What cord did you use?

It's very easy to do @Sheps I save all the extra toms , of all varieties, that I can't eat at the time, due to growing soooooo many, and make the sauce when I have time out of the growing season.
Just wash and freeze whole, then when wanted defrost in a pan, heat until simmering, cook until mushy, usually 20 to 40 mins, then strain out the skins and pips through a sieve into a new pan and continue to simmer until it reaches the desired thickness. If you want a chunky sauce then you need to skin and de-seed before freezing, so no sieving needed. Easy. Then you can add anything you want, onion, red peppers, basil, or spices to make a sauce or a soup. Mine goes into lasagne quite often.😁

Hi @ObsessedPlantswoman thanks, pleased you like them.

I used 2 Voile net curtains at £6.50 each and some very cheap curtain wire that fitted to the greenhouse frame.

Both the curtains and the wire come in various lengths and drops, so easy to get what you need from that well known auction site.

That sounds pretty straightforward @purplerallim I will give it a go, I'm growing 8 plants this year so should have some spares 😀
  • Already been planting out some chard seedlings - under bell cloches.

I have asked my wife, who is out shopping, to make a search for more. I had more seedlings take, and survive, than I expected. We're going to be eating chard a lot this year!!

GC bought tomato plants potted on along with 2 sweet peppers.

Lettuce placed outside to harden off a bit more before planting out tomorrow.

Don't let that lettuce get frosted tonight, it's said to go low @Sheps .
The toms need 10° at night to be ok, so just watch what temp your greenhouse goes down to for the next few weeks. If it gets too low the leaves will turn a bluey colour, and will be slow to grow on for a week or two.

Thanks @purplerallim the Toms, Peppers and Lettuce will be coming indoors for the night.

The Spuds in tubs will be going into the greenhouse and covered with fleece to protect the shoots that have just emerged.
