We have harvested three tomatoes now but the rest remain stubbornly green.
No gardening today, all done the other day.....for now.
  • No gardening going on. I am still struggling with the side effects of the tablets I have been prescribed. Spent yesterday on the sofa.
Storms are forecast for tomorrow so doubt if dog  and I will get a walk in. I must try to get down to the greenhouse today as the tomatoes are due for a watering.

No gardening going on here either @Joyce Goldenlily, isn't so frustrating. I haven't been able to do any for about 3 weeks now and with all this rain, it's looking rather unkempt and the weeds are running riot. I was expecting my new gardening lady to come today but she's had to postpone, may be able to pop in tomorrow. I desperately need some bearded iris rhizomes planted which I'd been kindly sent by another forum reader and the new rose I was given by my brother.

Managed to shuffle outside and water some cuttings on the kitchen kitchen windowsill that were drooping. Picked one more tomato - delicious!

  • Thanks GWRS.
Managed to feed and water the tomatoes before the incoming storm reaches us. It is just blowing now with a lot more to come.
Found three tomatoes "just" beginning to turn colour. At last.
Picked a good handful of runner beans, no appetite to  enjoy them, hopefully I can tickle my taste buds tonight.
Discovered some new shoots on a couple of salvias I bought last year. I thought they died, hadn't got around to putting them on the compost heap. I am going to try taking cuttings from them when the shoots are a bit bigger and the deluge has moved on.

Just back from a week in Scotland,  so the garden has had to look after itself. The only slight casualty was a blown over sweet pea, but its been uprighted and is fine.
Then had to set to and pick from the greenhouse. We did pick all near ripe toms and cucumbers before we left and gave them to the neighbours,  but we still had alot to pick. 10 pounds of tomatoes and eight cucumbers 😆 , so just put 7lb in the freezer, and given toms and cucumbers to the neighbours.  Still to get to the french beans, but there looks to be a few.

@purplerallim , hello your tomatoes are amazing , so far I’ve picked 1 red one & 3 yellow and none from the allotment

All those were from the greenhouse @GWRS the ones outside have only given one or two. The outside spare cucumber has fruit, it doesn't seem to mind the cooler weather.
I'm not sure how many more French beans I will get, they seem to be finishing early.
