  • @rowlandscastle444 how exciting!  I'm happy you're finding joy in your new garden.  :)

It reminds me of when my daughter moved into her new home. Experienced gardeners must have planted the garden. I walked around and hung plant names on various "green" bushes for her.
When I moved here there was not a single plant except for a clump of daffodils growing on a bank so a blank canvas..
When I began digging I found lots of balls of very sticky, white clay amongst the stones and grit. Claypit waste.

Started the Christmas and new year celebration today

Merry Christmas and a happy new year  to you all
  • Had our Christmas Dinner and weekend last weekend,  as daughter can't leave London this weekend,  on call, so it's just us. Merry Christmas everyone.

My new bare root rose arrived yesterday so have just plunged it into a bucket of water.
Hopefully I can pot it up tomorrow when most of the family have gone home and even more hopefully when the wind/heavy rain has abated.

    Merry Christmas everybody.

  • Also continued the task of removing moss from the path, so that neither of us take a tumble.

Then found various tools which were still in boxes.

Finally came across my concrete frog, which my wife had hoped I'd left at our old house - and repeatedly stressed!!
    Sparks flew!!! 😇😁
  • Last job was to identify that we do indeed have apple and plum trees here. Not sure what the other fruit trees are. Only time will tell.
  • I mowed the lawn - ridiculous for 23rd December but it's so mild it's growing. I'm even wondering about getting the robo mower out for a week or so - 2 hours with the electric mower that usually just does the odd bits was no fun.

Lovely photos @rowlandscastle444, it's surprising what colour you can find when you take a closer look.

Love the thought of a robo mower @NormandyLiz.
