Spent pretty much the whole day in the garden

Finished painting the new fence. Final pieces into place tomorrow!

Tidied the patio...about two hours work :( but at least it’s done.

My little helper planted some sweet peas in trays with me. She has her own potting bench now

Sat out with visiting family.  Planted up blueberries and sowed garlic with them.

Cut lawn with help from the toddler.

    Went on the swings.

    Dead heading.

Watered the pots and the front garden.

My plum has a gorgeous amount of blossoms on @Pam’s Pastures , even the cherry planted a week ago has blossoms. Picture of plum only three years old.

A pleasant day for being out in the garden. I dragged the wheelbarrow round the garden trimming bits here and pulling up stuff there. I have decided that Celendine aren’t worth weeding as they give little splashes of yellow joy until the other stuff grows up.  Grass cut too.
My garden and I live in South Wales.
  • Lovely day here too Aunty Rach and I agree with you to keeping the celedines apart from where they are growing slap bang in the middle of a plant.  Getting rid of the Spanish blue bells is more of a priority here. Enjoyed friends and relatives coming all morning and tried to trace the leaking stream liner - still not found the hole, is it under the cement, under the pebbles or somewhere we haven't thought of yet. Also spent time this afternoon preparing for the lawn seed to go down, possibly Monday or Tuesday next week.

That is the four trellis panels up and the replacement fence panel, broken by next doors lilac trunk splitting, in. Just paths to do around the beds. Not putting the veg in beds this week as night frosts forecast.
  • Phew, just read 99 gardening sitreps, good work achieved by all 😀

Chopped down some of the garden this weekend ready to refill the garden bin when it gets emptied this week (first collection). Disturbed my medium size frog again, it's a nice looking frog, I made it a cave last time I disturbed it and it was in the same area.

The frog jelly in the pond is starting to deteriorate (had 3 globules) peered about for the things but couldn't see any. Lots of little ramshorn snails and a few new marsh marigold seedlings, one of my favourite pond plants.

I think every plant is up now, even the late things. Did some last minute tinkering before the ground dries out, shuffling some things about. Potted on some Sweet William's and poked some nasturtium seeds into the ground.

Bought two cyclamen coum from the dead plant shelf at B&Q, they are white with a pink blob and mine are all pink. Hope they're coum anyway, they don't look fancy enough to be a fancy kind.

    Planted some seed into trays with John I n n e s seed compost;

    Basil
    Coriander
    Parsley
    Rocket
    Poppy

Then I went to the back of the garden which is running a bit wild.

Maybe I won’t need to plant coriander after all.

There’s a few giant lettuce down there too

Went out today Highcliff Castle not gardening by me today but got to look around a lot of displays of orchids and some for sale glad I think pretty but not into them well expensive and lots of effort goes into growing them
Yesterday lots of gardening put up 5 fences in garden with dad very heavy carrying them only few left to do all along one side of garden, then pruning of trees around pond and later trip to use vouchers from Hilliers GC so got violas on bogoff and container compost to plant up two easy fill baskets and on way home free seeds from Daily Mail Newspaper, then near Hilliers there is a horse field and you can get free manure so went forked up and collected one bag for community garden for new area asparagus
Everyone so busy doing loads really want to get to seed sowing but need to clean out my big walkin gh first and so much to do, so knackered today from clock change and having to get up early to go out

I managed the first mow of the season this year. It takes me around 4 hours to mow the damn thing. Other than that, tidied up the orchard and inspected the trees, moved the wood shed to another part of the garden to start planning for a long awaited green house. Deadheaded the daff's that had gone over.  My tulips are a little coy at the moment so just have 'pittsburg' (purple) and 'vanilla cream' currently + daffs that I planted late. The yellow ones I can't find the label.

That's quite a few! @batwood14 - What do you do with them all when they've gone over?
