Yes, I managed to pot up some left over iris rhizomes this afternoon, ready to give to my daughter and sister, they both love irises as well. After two slow walks to fetch the compost and pots from the top of the garden, I was bushed so had to stop for tea and chocolate!

@purplerallim , next doors French beans have been producing lots , however , there’s have just about finished
Personally had none from allotment but I did put them in late
  • No gardening going on here.
Torrential rain during  the night. A massive hooley blowing now with intermittent downpours.
Discovered a large flower bud on my Queen of the Night succulent. It looks as if it might hold and open this year, there was a small bud last year but it dried up and fell off.

I will need lead boots when I take Robbie for his constitutional if I am not to be blown off the village green which is exposed to the full force of the S.Westerlies.
I think my runner beans may end up on the ground, my son in law did not make their cane supports very firm and they were leaning sideways loosely when I checked them a couple of days ago. I usually built a mini Fort Knox in previous years because my garden is so exposed. I learned the hard way.

@Joyce Goldenlily, probably not a good idea to take your dog for a walk today, why not wait until the storm as passed over? I'm guessing you're probably as small as me and I can easily get blown over!

Edited to add, we've now got torrential rain but it's not that windy - yet!

Hello , a lot of rain ☔️ in the night , pleased to say it has now stopped and we have not had strong winds
Tomorrow is forecast to be a nice day so going  to allotment
O/H has been making plum & ginger and pear & walnut chutney today , the house smells of vinegar at the moment
  • I am not little Lizzie! I stand 5'7'' and well built.
What a horrendous day. No constitutional. I could barely stand for the gale force storm outside.
My runner beans are decimated. My son in law came round and sadly surveyed them. I think some of the main stems have been broken so I will lose most of the crop. Just as they were beginning to form. Such a shame.
Today is much better, sunshine and calm so a chance for a perambulation.
    The calm after the storm.
    The chutneys sound lovely.

I find in windy weather it's not the wind blowing you over that's the problem, it's the flying debris that can take you out!
Where I worked in the city decapitation was always on the cards with huge slates from Victorian roofs. (Yes roofs). As a collective we nearly wiped out a security man. Someone failed to secure one of the second floor windows overnight and it was caught. The glass 'fell' out and the poor man lost the back of his coat. The broken bits were all inside his uniform too. Oooooh the paperwork!
I can't garden. My lawnmower keeps sinking so I'll tell stories on here instead. 😳

Not in the garden yet but watched a couple of YT videos of Jessie at Plot 37, always enjoyable. Sun is shining so I’ll be out soon.
  • I've been struggling to get into my gardens.  It's been a tough year all around so far, and I just have no energy.  My pledge to weed one perennial bed per day fell by the wayside, so I went out yesterday and was horrified to realize some of the crabgrass in and between my holding beds is waist-high on me.  I started pulling, and the next thing I knew I had a massive pile of weeds in the middle of the garden.  Absolutely embarrassing!  Today I need to force myself to get out and remove some dangerous/toxic weeds from the pasture.
