I was given a bagfull of snowdrops in the green last night so planted them out in the verge under the front hedge. Fingers crossed some of them at least survive. I'd be so, so pleased to see snowdrops there next year after years of trying.

Yesterday started again cutting an  Oasha (a type of Willow ) on the stream bank
will need another cut to finish off the job , didn’t prune it last year which was a big mistake
All the branches stored for drying , to burn on fire 🔥
Had so some smokeless fuel delivered in the week , could believe how much it had gone up from £19 a bag to £30 !
    Good day at allotment today

Got organised and printed out labels for my new roses.
Swopped the batteries on our solar fence lights on the drive.
Weeded the new rose Ghislaine de Feligonde bed then covered it in bark mulch. I'm hoping to keep the weeding to a minimum this year.
Discovered to my delight my Fritillaria meleagris have survived the drought last year and are coming up. Really, really pleased.

Finally after waiting for things to warm up somewhat, lost patience and sowed my tomatoes and cucumbers seeds. Yes they are inside,  but I put them in the conservatory usually,  but it's been as low as 2° in there!

I dug up and moved a clump of cyclamen, and potted up my bare-root perennials that arrived this morning. Yesterday the grass got its second cut of the year, and the full compost bin got turned into other one with grass clippings mixed in where it was dry and twiggy (I watered it too).

  • I went to the garden centre for some more free empty pots. They have now put up a notice saying no more empty pots thank you. We are discontinuing this service. Just as I had started using it.

That's very inconsiderate of them @Joyce Goldenlily and annoying for you.

I weeded and mulched a few more beds - in between heavy showers, in and out the house like a yo-yo. It was quite warm though, up to 14.1c.
