Started digging a new bed. For years we've left wide uncut borders on the lawn, and there's now a load of couch grass to dig out..

Planted 18 iris siberica into the meadow, did a bit of mowing, cut back hard the buddleias and mulched another bed. A good day's work!

My lawns got their first cut of the year as well, then I did some pruning - roses and buddleia that probably should have been done weeks ago and a big old hardy fuchsia, tidied up some of the shrubby salvias where they were sprawling over where I want to plant some potted bulbs, cut back perennials that are starting to fall over and look untidy, left the ones that are still standing upright and adding structure. Then shredded the lot and put it in the empty compost bin with the grass clippings, and stuck the thermometer in to see how warm it gets.

I fed all my roses as we have had rain the last couple of days and today was sunny and dry. Also fed most of the clematis which have new shoots. That took a few hours.

Bought a few pots of snowdrops & bluebells and put them out. I also bought another agapanthus because it's purple, no idea whee I'm going to put it.
Made a plan of what's going in the new borders, and did a bit more digging.
Got my first primrose flower of the year. 😁

  • No gardening. I have developed a heavy cold and cough so a couple of duvet days are the order of the day.

Hope you get better soon @Joyce Goldenlily, I've just got over the cold I had, it's the pits so I do sympathise with you. Seems most of the people I know have it, or are just getting over it.

The only gardening I've done is order 6 more 100 litre bags of bark mulch which thankfully is going to be delivered for an extra £5. The nursery chappie lives near us and as we can only get two bags at a time in the car boot, saves quite a few journeys right across town.

Going to be busy next week!
