Today I've got half my roses pruned, it was very mild this morning. My snowdrops are also appearing @Uff, I find that so exciting.

Lovely sunny day , went on an organised walk this morning and  this afternoon collected surplus gravel in one of those large Bags from a Neighbour following there landscaping , 11 small bags in total , that I could pick up
Will use a bit in own garden and the rest at allotment, sort of gardening

Hello , a few hours in the garden today ,a nice autumn day, put some more gravel done on a path and the back of a bed in front of an hawthorn hedge
Cleared some very wet dead plants and repotted some polyanthus and a few other jobs , very pleased with myself
    Allotment tomorrow , hopefully
  • Finally moved some raspberries (Polka) which had spread to 'wrong' areas (inc. inside the GH soil borders) to in front of a west-facing fence.  Discarded the originals which had a lot of dead wood in the centres, dug out all roots and used newer clumps which had grown from underground runners.  Hopefully, they'll do as well there, although they'll have to compete with ivy roots which will soon invade from the other side of the fence.  That particular job has been on my 'to do' list for at least the last 3 years, so glad it's finally done!

Yes, I've been gardening today but not in my own garden. There are 6 volunteers and today, two gardeners, starting the task of clearing brash from the woodland garden and the damage that Storm Arwen caused.
It's going to take months to go through the garden so it will be done as and when. There are hundreds of thousands of snowdrops and leucojeum underneath the brash and it was hoped that come March the garden could open for snowdrop walks but I don't think it will happen this year, again. Covid for the past two years and now the storm.

It was a lovely day so OH was weeding (including removing tree stumps and roots) a long border we are slowly clearing and re-planting. I watered some plants, mainly under cover, pruned a few roses and weeded the raised veg beds, principally between the onions and shallots. We didn't grow much in the way of veg this year because we had to return to England in July, with no-one to water the plants in our absence. Next year hopefully will be more productive.

Washed the outside of my greenhouse this morning (I did the inside a couple of months back before bringing the tender plants in). Then spent the afternoon shovelling manure onto my borders.

  • Hi.  Does picking fresh salad leaves today count? 😄.  Happy Christmas all.
