Lizzie27, that's hard work on it's own let alone the garden as well but I bet you'll miss them when they go home so enjoy. I used to stand the tray in water but then you have to remember to empty it or the are to wet and you lose them much easier to water first.

I will be doing that in the next few days Yvie - we have been to the GC today, not that I need to buy so many plants now that I collect and grow my own seeds and cuttings.  However I was disappointed to see how many of the bedding plants are bland, and mostly not attractive to wildlife/bees/butterflies.  However I came away with some dianthus, fuchsias and petunias.  I also have some lupins on order, and have already planted single flowered dahlias and lavenders in pots so I hope to attract some insects to these.

Planted out all my parsnip seedlings watered them in then covered with cloche's will be interesting to see how many take to being moved, the badgers had a great time in the compost bins last night so wont need to turn them myself this month.

Watered all around and in the poly tunnel we have only had 5 mm of rain in ten weeks here it's now getting very dry.

Son rotavated the veg patch again I then racked it and it's now ready for use still a bit more rotavating to do but even with all the rain it still hard. Gave the two compost bins a good kick incase there's still some one in there. Just about to go water the seedlings in my little plastic green house and the cold frame. Checked the radish there coming along nicely as are the onions.

Another four containers planted and front and back lawns mowed and edged.  Need to do some weeding but I'm a bit bushed so it might have to wait until another day.  Greenhouse is emptying slowly.  Have bought some seeds to sow for next year.  Wallflower Fire King and Lupin Noble Maiden.

Emptied an old bath on an old plot moved it then half refilled with layer of chipped bark then added compost and chicken pellets transplanted two pumpkin "Atlantic Giant" watered in and covered with cloche.

Cleared back some of the old scrub land that was beginning to encroach into my space and the new hedge, thistles, stinging nettles, brambles along with a few other weeds just a taken it back a little bit as it's such a haven for wildlife I don't want to disturb it to much.

Weather not as bad as l feared, wind is very light which helps. Pricked out tomato seedlings, deadheaded hellebores, a bit of deadheading and general pottering. Helped OH sieve 7 bags of soil and stuff from MIL's garden. Managed to get 3 bags of reasonable soil from it, so it looks like a trip to the tip sometime with the rubbish.

Dull today but felt warmer than yesterday as very little breeze.
Bit of a mixed bag forecast next week, but weekend looks promising.

Not much done at all apart from opening and closing the coldframes and greenhouse - been horse racing instead with my family.
