Hello , cut off our 1 Aubergine 🍆 this afternoon
Decided to leave plant in g/h , just to see if it survives the winter ❄️

@JoeX your compost looks too dry to be doing much, tip it all out out mix it up and get it really wet then stick back in the bins. Leaves need lots of moisture to break down.
Yep, put about 10l of rainwater in each compost afterwards - I havent turned it since spring either. 😬

Theres plenty of white fungal strands in the leaf pile, but I kust admit that I forgot leaf mould needs some water as previously I had an open pile that caught rain.

As much as Ive wanted to get this going I have to admit that Im just too busy for all the jobs Id like to do in the garden. And this takes space.

I planted out about 50 violas and pansies and some cyclamens this morning, over a newly sorted patch that it turns out has concrete 6 inches down ( :( ) I also put some wallflowers in. Might put the rest in pots. I also tied back a rose, got rid of bramble runners that were at the starting line of a race across the top lawn, did some deadheading, moved the recently emptied compost bin to a new location and picked the last of my peppers, some chillies, a few tomatoes and an aubergine, and put the bulk of the plants in the compost bin, spent compost still to be dealt with. Another 7 tom plants still to sort out...
I also did some pruning and sieved a load of terracotta balls out of a small raised bed. (Put in to help retain water for sunflowers whilst on holiday last year. Arguably a mistake! Although the sunflowers survived...)
This was a semi-decent (three hour) start on a long list of things that need doing. I am very behind as work is taking over my life at the moment. It's nice to have done something decorative though, rather than just tidying.
I have a load of foxgloves to put out too plus need to organize overwintering of various plants. It's still warmish though...
I hope I can squeeze in more of the same plus some weeding, if only half an hour a day, these week, but not hopeful. Maybe when my deadline is met, I will take a day off to do more.

Just seem to spend all my garden time taking photos at the moment (I now have a phone of my own that is capable)  :D Welcome to the 21st century!

Dug out and potted up a rose "Hot chocolate", it was only in a temporary location while l decide where to put it, still haven't decided 🙄. Also did the same with hardy geranium "Sirak" and a salvia that l think is "Caradonna" but have lost the label.  Into the space that was left l moved a penstemon "Garnet" and a peony that l acquired from MIL that's been sitting in a pot for 2 years. Sun actually came out for a while, gone cloudy again now.

I potted up 4 pots of daffodils and some wallflowers. It took longer than I thought it would... :*

So, including the ones that have arleady gone in the garden, about 63 bulbs down, about 350 to go?! (Maybe more.) Not as bad as it sounds... apart from it taking longer than I thought it would! I need more horticulatural grit now too.

Hello , a productive day outside , this morning cut loads of wood for fire 🔥
This afternoon pruned rambling rose 🌹 growing though Holly tree , needed steps and extending lopper
  • Up about half a bulk bag of leaves for leaf mould, as kind neighbour has put their leaves in my bag rather than smuggling them into the waste.

Now girding loins to order a leaf blower / vacuum.

“Rivers know this ... we will get there in the end.”
