Too flipping cold to do anything

Too cold for much outdoor stuff here too. I deadheaded a few daffodils then retreated indoors to pot up some plug plants that arrived this morning. Spare bedroom windowsill for them, until it's a bit warmer out then they can go in the cold frame.

  • Too cold and snowy still up here :( annoying!

Instead I had a day inside at the table, potting on seedlings/splitting them into their own pots. Running out of indoor space for my seedlings desperate for this wintry weather to shift so I can move them into the unheated greenhouse, contemplating just putting some of the hardier seedlings in anyway!

Would you believe the plum came into flower today 🙄 It's far too cold! Probably won't get fruit now.😡
Watered the cold frame, the carrots and beetroot have just come through.

Strimmed around all the edges today, makes a huge difference to how the garden looks. Mower half the grass before being called in to paint 😭😭. @purplerallim our plums were nicely in flower yesterday but after a very cold night with a horrible northerly blast I'm thinking they are doomed now 😭

After such a bumper crop last year, I figured it will be a low yield this, but would like some😢

Moved some of the potted up plants into the greenhouse and set the heater to frost free.  Potted up more seedlings to make room on the conservatory window ledge for the next sowing session.  All my peas have germinated and everything in the raised bed is doing well.  I have watered and put the fleece back.  Have checked everything in the garden and despite the snow and frost nothing seems to have been damaged.

No digging today - but I have put some cardamom seeds into soak for 24 hours which I will sow into toilet rolls on Saturday and into the plastic house.  Hopeful uncertainty!  Apparently, the plants can take up to 3 years before producing but have beautiful foliage.  Worth a try.

    Has anyone tried this?
A good hoeing is worth two waterings.

Yesterday I potted on some seedlings and made space for the next batch of sowing. Today was a much nicer day (though a bit windy) so I moved some perennials to different positions, planted some things that have been waiting patiently to go in the garden and did a bit of weeding.  I actually quite like weeding - am I alone in that?

@didyw I've got couch grass in one of my borders and there's something really satisfying about digging it and pulling up long roots. but I've done so well that I haven't seen any for a couple of weeks and feel a bit disappointed 😂
