Yep, it's never boring once you've caught the 'bug'.

Managed to get a few things done despite the storms (and no power for most of the weekend).

Repotted a ceanothus which had been blown over and smashed (just as well; it was pot-bound). Cleared all the branches and sticks that came down in the storm (sawed up the bigger ones for next year's firewood; shredded the smaller ones for compost). Potted on my foxgloves that I sowed last year.  Sowed some Lobelia 'Monsoon' and Nicotiana sylvestris in the greenhouse. And started digging a new bed in a shady corner of the garden.
  • I stepped out of my front door to move a pane of glass into a safer place and was almost blown off my feet.
That was as far as my gardening went yesterday. The storm here was worse than at the week end.

I did a bit of weeding this morning whilst I was checking for storm damage in the back garden - none, fortunately and as the sun came out later and the winds abated a bit, cut down the remaining box plants in the fourth box hedge. It's a green bin today so wanted to fill them up! Just one more box hedge to go. The back garden looks very strange and desolate without them but trying to think positively - more plant buying opportunities!

I spent some time in the potting shed to check on my dahlias in storage and sow some sweet peas.

I weeded a large bed in next door’s front garden. Pulled out three bags full of bittercress (this is where mine comes from!).

I’ve lain down cardboard over the whole border and watered it and weighed it down with bricks.

Tomorrow I’ll remove the bricks, membrane it and put decorative bark down.

Should make it look tidier and stop me from having to weed as often. Win win.

I've managed to do some weeding, tidying and pruned a climbing rose in the front garden.  I've got a man in to do the same in the back garden today as I'm not fit enough at the moment to tackle it on my own.
