You must be so excited about the rose, Lizzie27, you've mentioned it twice!🙂 And who can blame you, it's a lovely rose, and I'm sure will be blooming for you in summer.
Battled a Clematis Montana today with Oh taking most of the strain .Its roots had tucked themselves under the archway( which had started swaying in the harsh winds) so it was decidedly hard work to dig deep enough to get the garden fork underneath and crack/snap the roots.Couldn't get right down to lift all the roots unfortunately due to the archway being in the way. Managed to get it out eventually but think we will suffer tomorrow. OH also laid some slabs where the grass had sunk and become very boggy and muddy....just where I stand to hang the washing out.
Dog and I finally had our beach walk. He loves the open space and soft sand. We even managed a mini sunbathe halfway along. I then went on a "Hunt for strong white flour". Found some eventually in Tesco, hidden out of reach, on a top shelf. We were both bushed when we came home so a cuppa and snooze on the sofa was the order of the day. I have to wait up to 6 weeks for the scan results on my eyes. I was a bit disappointed as I thought it would all be done while I was at the hospital, apparently the consultant has to decide which "pathway" I need to follow. Yesterday I spent most of the day using up some of my surplus apples. See topic"Food Waste". It is pouring with rain now so no outdoor work yet. The only colour left in my garden is the Viburnum bonairiensis. Everything else has been beaten into submission by the torrential rain and storms. Except for the weeds and grass. I still have a final picking of apples to collect, they just do not want to be picked, they are hanging on for dear life. I watered the greenhouse, I am going to move the kale outside for the rain to wash off the whitefly I noticed flying around, the tomato vines look very bedraggled but the fruit is still ripening. I was surprised at how warm it felt inside the greenhouse.
Got wet walking the dog. Got wet unlocking our clubhouse to complete a nomination form for the oncoming AGM. Got wet locking up the premises, despite wearing waterproofs. Sat in damp clothes for a meeting at the local golf club. Warmer than our clubhouse which has no heating. Afterward went to a local hostelry to book a Christmas Lunch for our club. Arrived home feeling very damp and cold. Spent the evening trying to placate the dog. I had totally forgotten about bonfire night. He went outside for a pee around 8 o'clock and a banger must have gone off. He was distraught all evening, I thought he was going to have a heart attack he was panting none stop for over 4 hrs. I felt so guilty. He is still traumatized this morning, wouldn't go in the garden unless I was with him, it took me 4 attempts before he eventually answered his call to nature. There is a break in the weather at the moment, lovely sunshine, it was pouring but heavy clouds are coming over the horizon again so no outdoor work today. It was so wet last night I didn't bother to have my usual Nov. 5th bonfire.
