Got 3 hours out in the garden today, mostly digging out/pulling off yet more spanish bluebells, and a few dandelions. Council green bin is nearly full again. I also bit the bullet and cut back some of the shrubby salvias, the ones in pots against the house wall which are growing apace. The ones in the borders are further behind so I'll leave those for another time.

Since last post I’ve been pulling up ivy from my shady border which was making a bid for world domination. More work required but that area can be bark mulched once it’s done and my Foxgloves (grown last year and in pots) can be dotted in there I think.

I too have been attacking the ivy today, while hubby replaced two broken fence panels. A taller one to replace tomorrow , next to the removed ivy, and maybe get to the other side of it to remove more, as renters next door don't care.
Pulled a big patch of sticky weed, and a mountain of ground cover weeds. Am very much behind , as last year was unable to do much, so the weeds have got away from me.

Yesterday i weeded 25 blueberry pots and topped up with compost.
  • I haven't done any today but since we're meant to be getting 'nice' weather its the perfect time to get it done, especially now I'm having work done on the house, just kitted my new bathroom out got most my stuff from plumbhq some stunning bits and bobs!
  • Got my new gooseberry bush planted out in a 50 litre pot this afternoon. Mixture of soil, home produced compost, shop bought peat free compost (Verve, from B&Q), sand, and a layer of stones for drainage.

I manured 17 out of 18 roses in the back garden. The 18th is absolutely smothered in yellow tulips which I must have planted right underneath originally, so no room for manure! Tidied a yellow azalea just about to bloom and watched as the bindweed exploded in all directions.

  • You have been busy, @Lizzie27
    Puts my gardening to shame.

That's a lot of blueberry bushes!

I planted up the big planter by the house; radish, lettuce, mustard greens, and spinach.  Hoping to plant my snap peas this afternoon.  It's a perfect day for it; a light on-and-off rain, finally.
The IBC tote is in place.  Unfortunately, I need to replace the gutter system on the barn, which during inspection led me to realize the fascia is pretty much rotten, too.  For the want of some water a barn was rebuilt, I guess.
