More pricking today: rhodochiton, celosia, echinacea, and aquilegia.
Binned some seed trays that did not germinate at all.
Tied up crazy growing Group 3 clematis.
Tried to go to Wisley's garden centre, but they had just closed it down for the day as a sign of respect for Prince Philip's passing

Been busy sowing seeds today, Cosmos, Calendula Neon and Ammi Majus.  Broad beans and peas have out into the Greenhouse.  Ordered some Carex Phyllocephala Sparkler plants.  I've been after some for ages but they were either too small or too expensive.

Some general tidying up and pricked digitalis and zinnia seedlings.
But enjoying the tulips and a new composition in a container in shady area (hellebore, bergenia, epimedium, leptinella).

@SophieK—I’d love to know what variety the purple-pink tulip in this photo is...

Busy morning in the potting greenhouse (we've renamed the shabby old inherited greenhouse to make it feel more important after gaining our big new greenhouse 🤣). Pricked out my tomato plants 10 sungold which will go outside in buckets and 25 each of gardener's delight and marmade the best of which will go in the greenhouse. Potted on some more aquilegia. Pricked out some other seedlings, no idea of the plant name they are from saved seed of a plant gifted from FIL who was also gifted it and has no idea what it's called 🤣. Moved loads of cuttings, seedlings etc out of there sheltered spot to get much more sunshine, they need to be fleeced at night. Unwrapped the spring onions and beetroot to let them have more light and to harden off a bit again nighttime protection will be needed.

Have just sown my second round of carrots, beetroot and a few radishes under my coldframe.
Decided to hand pollinate the plum ( it's so cold there are few bees about)
Had to water the rest as it as dry as a bone out there.
The cold has decimated the daffodils so now need to deadhead.☹

I planted some violets around the top of a pot containing Lilium speciosum bulbs. Unfortunately I put my trowel straight through a lily shoot, right above the bulb, which seems to have ended up much higher than I planted it. I wonder if it will re-shoot?

Dug new bed for 20 gladioli encircling a large urn

Moved two sage and a rosemary

Moved and divided perennials that I cant recall what they are, but didn’t flower in their previous location, into large pots with chives

Used up the topsoil from 2018s turf stack, picking out the weeds and crumbled into the pots and wall beds - lots of worms and millipedes

Planted remaining 225 muscari bulbs, probably too late now but at least they’re in the ground, 6 begonia

Watered all the pots,  as this wind is drying everything out.  Replenished the bird feed and the water.  Checked & watered greenhouse plants.  Retreated indoors as too cold to stay out for long.

I had a quick shiftie round the back garden during a break in the rain, pulled some weeds out, deadheaded daffodils and hellebores. I also went out the back gate to admire the artistic way a Council strimmer has very carefully mowed around the flowers I've got growing on the verge outside our house - usually they just strim the lot. Hopefully they are beginning to follow better practice.
