Didn't get done what I'd planned, waiting for a skip so we can load all the left over wood and roofing felt after OH has cut up what we need to make the veg beds. Weather doesn't look good for tomorrow so we'll see.

Last bit of Allotment shed maintenance (side window frame) transplanted some Globe artichokes into new raised bed I am trying out. Other than that just picked purple sprouting broccoli and some daffs from the ones naturalised under the plum tree. Too wet underfoot to do much else. At home pruned back the tips of Camellia as we could not see the flowers properly, they were all hidden inside.

Moved more seedlings from home to poly tunnel at allotment, peppers, cucumbers, and violas.
Fitted new locks to shed, loaded two bags of fresh horse manure in to new compost heap to get that started, it was full of worms so hope they will stay and do their thing as I fill it up over the year.
Off to the local German high street store on Thursday as they will have their compost on sale from then  :)

Cut back the cornus, think l should have maybe been a bit more ruthless, but they don't look too bad. See the forecast is for sleet showers at the start of next week. Think l will postpone the seed sowing for a few more days.

    March 5th  Tuesday

My allotment has 8 beds all 13 foot long

    Bed 1

Removed dead Phacelia stalks as I have just realised that I am sowing Manchester Table carrots in 14 days.
I was intending to dig it in to improve the soil........best laid plans etc

    Bed 5   Section D

Getting professional now !! planted out some Broad Bean plants and tied them off as its windy on the site. Got 4 more to go out next week

    Bed 7

Weeded the two types of Garlic

    Bed 8

Sowed 50 Autumn Gold onion sets from Marshalls. They offered 250 g with approx 75 sets. I got only 63 so I have asked them if they think this is enough.

  • You have been busy New Boy2, so well organized.
OH is so busy digging out stones and roots from the new lawn area that I am having trouble prizing him away to get the veg patch prepared for me.
In the meantime I moved 30+ Tigridia bulbs AGAIN, I do hope they manage to produce some flowers this year after their upheaval!
Also potted up some hollyhock seedlings that were only sown 2 weeks ago (in unheated greenhouse).
Also sorted some more plug plants (grown from seed collected last summer) to plant out in the wild flower area.
That never ending to do list just got a whole lot shorter (for now)!
