Potted on my basil plants and there living outside too, we have a wall which gets very hot and radiates heat all night when we have this weather so that's where they are along with the tomatoes. Planted red robin and firethorn that were donated. Picked my 1st broad beans they were really good.
Wilderbeast , basil , we normally grow some with our toms in g/h but couldn’t get any seed this year , however , the other day saw some basil in a pot in S/M so bought some and planted it up , not sure if it will grow but 2 chances Hope you are keeping well
@GWRS all good here hope the allotment is ok. The basil looks and smells great hopefully this weather will be to it's liking. I had to buy a multi pack to get the seed and won't use most of them.
Planted 2 crimson vines hopefully they are going to climb all over a black pergola each, think the deep red foliage will look great against the black framework. Have trimmed the alchemila mollis right back as they have got so huge (4ft round balls) they were drowning out other plants
Hello , went to allotment , rain and storms where forecast at 2-00 , carried on doing lots of little jobs until about 4-OO ish At home watered g/h and pots having a beer before dinner and the rain/thunder came at 6-00 , however , not much at all Can’t beat our weather for unpredictability
O/H has started painting bathroom as weather was going to be so bad Will be interesting to see how tomorrow Pans out
Didn't do a lot today. The heat this last couple of days just knocks me for six. Deadheaded the roses (a daily job), did some watering. Put 4 plants out by the gate for walkers to take away and took lots of photos.
After a disappointing thunderstorm (we had about 2 loud bangs and a bit of drizzle) I went round dead heading. Did some cuttings this morning hydrangea and sambuca. All last year's penstemon, saliva andcand monarrdas have come into flower, I'm rather pleased with myself.
Fed greenhouse toms/cucumbers. Re-potted a maidens hair fern I have on the kitchen window sill, and picked strawberries. I'm like you @Lizzie27 heat knocks me back, so no more done. I too was waiting for the big storm @GWRS that never came.🙄
Did some tidying in the front garden. Yesterday was more impressive, ripping down the ivy on the front wall, it was very cathartic. Lifted the skirt on the pyracantha and gave it a trim. Weeded. Cut the grass. Potted on the sunflowers.
@purplerallim another here that suffers in the heat. It seems to trigger a lazy gene in me. Did manage to harvest lots today, pricked out side shoots on tomatoes and did some watering just in case the promised rain tomorrow doesn't arrive.
Spent most of the day thinking about putting stuff back out in the cloak room which had been moved yesterday so we could give it a major clean. It only took me 15 minutes to do it in the cooler evening, spent at least 5 hours pondering if it was a good thing to do or not in the heat this afternoon.
