Today was a scorcher! Luckily I don’t really get sun burnt.
It was really nice because a couple of my neighbours were out so we were all talking to each other over the fences.
One of my neighbours made me some rustic planters from some old decking, I’m super chuffed. Especially as I have no idea whether the hanging planters I ordered will ever show 😡
Did some more concrete path digging, more than half way now 💪🏽. Reckon I’ll be fine by next weekend, which means I got to face my shrub phobia soon.

I had a couple of trays of 9cm pots up on the shed roof: rosemary cuttings and Lathyrus vernus and Tulbaghia seedlings. I went into the shed to retrieve an old pallet,  but some bamboo canes were in the way... they were trapped by a roll of carpet so I really had to tug. The canes came loose, hitting the ceiling, and then there was the awful sound of my trays sliding down the roof - and crashing down. So I spent part of the afternoon repotting everything.

Then with the pallet I made a large wooden planter, to grow one of my cannas. Worked out okay but I think I'll just buy one next time..

Spent the morning removing all the mulch from the spring summer garden, it was a good 6 inch deep and the blackbirds were constantly burying the new plants. Put a thin layer back just to cover the membrane, hopefully they won't be able to mine so deep now. Worked with Mrs Wilderbeast to clean the brick floor of the eating area, scrapped all the gaps it swept of then spread new sand in. Fell asleep on the day bed for an hour with the whole family, 4 snoring Wilderbeasties. Mixed yesterday's grass clippings into the compost and turned a bin, it's cooking great this year.

Never stops here @GWRS I'm quite the workaholic in the garden, we are seeing the results now it's nearly 3 years since we got our large garden addition and wow does it look different

Potted up most of 3 seed trays worth of Cosmos "Cupcakes" both White and Mixed (and made sure l labelled them all !). Sowed some runner beans .
Planted 3 more shrubby salvias in front and back garden, and potted on a Salvia "Midnight".  Sowed some Californian poppy "Orange King" in front garden, and some "Purple Gleam" in the back.
    Washed some pots.
Greenhouse is stuffed, wish l could borrow Monty's just for a few weeks, and that massive cold frame of his.
    Very warm and sunny.

Turned another compost bin, yes I do indeed do this very often😀 hoed the beds again, finished cleaning the brick floor in the eating area. Fixed the wooden bench tables, these were cheap as chips but have been brilliant. Water the bog garden area. Moved an old bench into a quiet spot near the meadow and sat drinking coffee. Filled the boys paddling pool and joined them for wild water play oh what joy it was 😀😀😀

It's been really hot today, I had to keep coming in to cool down.  Moved some red campion as it was buried under the roses and some foxgloves that were hiding a rhododendron.  Watered them in well.  Fed the cannas, clematis and perennial pots. Oh and put up an insect hotel.  I'm trying to put back some of the nooks and crannies that were lost when we had the leylandii removed.

You bet!  Fiddled around, weeded a bit.  Pinched the laterals and tied up tomato plants.  Making a support trellis for my out of control plumbago. Dug over the hen run and threw the worms into my garden!  Picked a lettuce for dinner tonight.  And just generally strolled around enjoying the spring.  Cool, overcast and spitting.
A good hoeing is worth two waterings.
