Yes. lovelly, weather weeded round the veg, tidied up, shored up cosmos and chrysanths, and dahlias after all this high wind. Dead headed the front stuff. Hubby has been out there several hours, in T-shirt, jumper off, weeding the front drive.
Nothing doing here. This morning's fog hasn't lifted properly and there's not a breath of breeze, so it's only about 6 degrees and everything is still covered in water droplets.
Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Soil type: sandy, well-drained
It maybe damp, but at least the wind has dropped. That meant we could get all the leaves up! A bag full went to the hedgehogs, to give them a little more insulation in their corner of the garden, and three are now behind the shed. The ones from last year we used to mulch the beds. Bit of general weeding and pruning a couple of bushes and that was enough for today.
Had a busy day today despite the pea soup fog that meant I couldn't see the end of the garden all day. Cleared all the old foliage from the tropical area, cannas, ligularia, gunnera, hosta, spotty dotty and some of the castor oil plants. Fleeced up the 2 tree ferns and made a wigwam around the clump of Musa basjoo and wrapped that in fleece. Then went through 2 of the perennial beds clearing all the old foliage, I have done this spring before but we always seem to lose some plants that get buried below all the rotting vegetation.
I mowed up all the waste and the neighbours brought round 2 bins of soggy leaves and it all filled 2 of my pallet compost bins.
I'm meant to be finishing the new bathroom at home but while Mrs Wilderbeast is busy working I had to go out and do something. Collected 2 wheelie bins of leaves from the road at the front, then the neighbour asked if I wanted all there garden waste oh yes says I. 3 bins in total. Cut our agapanthus back and was going to prune our huge rose at the front only to find it's coming out in another flood of blooms 😃. Back to the bathroom now
The sun came out at 12 ish so I planted a potted wild violet and a hardy geranium under a tree outside our boundary fence. I didn't want them but couldn't bring myself to throw them away. Then I mulched with manure over the asparagus and ate three raspberries I found on the nearby bush.

Probably a final visit of the year to my sister's garden sandwiched by two quick stints in my own.

Yay some suitable for baking, and another run for the dehydrator.
His apple tree needs pruning though.
