If I can easily dig up the Peony, without killing it or me,  I will give it a whirl.

The shrubs probably weren’t pruned much before I inherited them and I only give a tidy once a year, so not to stress, but I could look how hard they will take pruning.

    Thanks folks.

Just be careful @NorthernJoe as some people put slabs where manhole covers should be/are. Have a dig around under the ones you move to make sure.
Our last neighbour removed some turf, only to find the open manhole without the cover underneath.

The garden is a big slope. If there's a manhole there it's a sloping one!!

I've lived places where manholes were hidden. Last place I had to get United utilities in because the stopcock couldn't be found just tarmac where their records say it was. Took two guys best part of a morning just to find and reinstate it. Loads of flags lifted then reinstated before they took up the tarmac. Had to lay in a new concrete surround and cover another day.

Gorgeous day here today in Suffolk, so I was able to have a good look at the border I have big plans for.  Did lots of weeding, made decisions on where things will go, planted some stuff and hubby mowed the lawn.  Here is a before and after.

Sowed a container of salad leaves.  Have three to sow, will do the next one in a fortnight.  Watered raised bed and containers.

A bit over caste this afternoon but spent a couple of hours doing a bit of tidying up
As ever did some watering , 1 water but empty & other 2 other nearly empty , no rain forecast  so will need to get water from stream at side of garden very soon

Cut the dead leaves from the ornamental grasses in pots and then tackled the big sleeper bed in the back garden. Decided to be ruthless and dug up 2 old lavenders and 3 old blue grass clumps and after lunch went for broke and hacked down an escallonia iveyii on the end which  has never performed terribly well. Soil too dry on top of the bank I expect, another right plant in the wrong place. My Penelope rose is growing well on the wall behind it so hopefully more roses - it's a beautiful apricot colour with large clusters.

Removed an old Juniper hiding under a large Hebe which created a spot for one of the heathers I had in a pot. There was a fern hidden in there too, so that’s been transplanted to the shady border. Finished pruning a Virburnum which seemed to have been frost-bitten on one side. Either that or it’s poorly. Time will tell...
Edged some of the lawn against a wall (the other edges don’t get ‘edged’).

Still struggling to get the greenhouse up! Got all the glass cleaned now, 95% of the metal work done and tonight we started on the new sealant (about 60% done). Knew we should've just bought one brand new and paid someone to install it... XD
