I had thought about doing some mulching but it's far too dry (no proper rain for a couple of weeks and it's already dry to the depth of a spade) so I just did a bit of weeding. Brambles and dandelions safely in the green bin where they can stay until collections resume (unless they rot first :o) and less nasty weeds from the second bucket (mostly chickweed and sticky willy) in the compost bin.

  • OH watered our newish privet hedge and rhodo and I potted on some parsley and tomato seedlings.

I just had a little Potter around this morning for a few hours and just enjoyed my surroundings with a few cups of tea.

That was supposed to be it until I read a post on here about a grass which spreads and I realised I had it in my garden under my head so i went out and dug them up.

I put some wires and screws back on the fence ready to tie the blackberry onto them - it's growing fast. I also lightly forked over my new asparagus bed in readiness (hopefully) for the bare root crowns to arrive in a week's time. Feel really tired so didn't do a lot.

Repaired holes in seeper hose, think I must put the fork through it when I'm gardening. Filled up some of my pots with fresh compost.  Weeded the borders and pruned Coryopteris and Hydrangea Limelight.  Spent some time working out what was going into which pots.

Helped hubby rake over the new bed ready to transplant snowdrops. Also moved another plant but don't know what it is. The leaves are a fluorescent green and it has white petals flowers that look daisy like, it forms a small dome only 6" tall. Love the bright foliage, but it needed more room because of the geranium. Next sorted out the lawn edge as it was not thriving under the flamenco willow,  moved it a bit, more room for plants.

Spend a few hours doing bits - mainly the garden ‘housework’ type things like sweeping leaves from corners, tidying shed and stacking pots. OH cut the grass so I will edge tomorrow. I think as I am expanding my veg this year (all in pots) that I will put some on the patio, as I won’t have as many plants/flowers as normal with the nurseries being closed.

Started planting out in the perennial beds, aguja, pulminaria, alchemilla mollis and various others all from divisions last year.

Built a swing seat, used a metal bench which had rotten legs and some chain that was destined for a different job. Picture will not load.

Watered yes watered the tropical bed which had a lot of flagging plants. We had a very warm and windy day so this area took a bashing, once all the larger plants are in leaf it gets protection from this.

Getting very dry here with the early warmth and winds, we are expecting rain today, though it often misses us out.

Repotted some of my prized cacti today (have 5 in all). The large one was certainly a painful experience even with leather gloves!!! Have to pot more but ran out of cactus soil and never risking normal in them!
