Sowed brassicas and lettuce in cells in trays in the glasshouse, noticed leeks are germinating, broad beans looking good planted out under cloche cover, too wet to get onto the ground.

Too wet today to do much so met a friend at Hilliers. Bought a large packet of Growmore for the pruned hedge and a roll of brushwood screening to hide one of the big gaps.  Then my friend very kindly gave me a 2ft high potted bush of euronymus which is the same as my hedge, to fill another gap. Aren't friends wonderful!

Was hoping to do a bit in garden this afternoon but bitterly cold wind , so not going to bother

We are going to Garden club in next Village to a talk on Friut trees , would like a couple of Apple trees for allotment , current ones produce so little fruit , I might chop them down ?

Yes its blowing a gale isn't it @GWRS . I swapped to potting on in the conservatory instead. This morning was bright but cold so did plant up the spring plants I bought, good job I got on with it as looks wicked out there now.

Only had time after SM run to tie in two clematises that are going great guns. Heavy rain then forced me indoors - and it was cold too.

Went to  a trip In-Excess garden center got a walk in GH from there as good price and has the green plastic squares cover so shade proofing, a pot of blue bells plant for garden and ordered lots of fences and wood for garden -  delivery next week, also some compost and plant trays ready for seed sowing just need to clean - wash 5tier plastic gh and lots of seed trays and pots, very windy here so no go with that yet
GWRS garden club fruit tree talk sounds good share some infomation with us, if you have enough room get another apple tree and keep others till end of year see how they do

  • I planted up a large pot with 3 x Happy Days dahlia and some daffodils that were in flower.  Hopefully we will have year round interest from this pot.
OH carried on removing stones from the soon to be seeded lawn and I also picked up some fallen pine cones from the driveway and sowed some leek seeds.
Sounds like you have had a positive day islander, I am sure your postlady will have a good display of montbretia flowers soon - once they get going they spread easily.

It rained most of the day here so took the opportunity and went to the plot to sow seeds in the GH, brussels, dwarf kale, turnip, spinach and a selection of flowers, all the flowers can be sown outdoors so hopefully they'll come up in the GH.

Gg. I find my 5tier plastic GH fabulous for the cost, it's used as an over spill for seedings now, when there's no room left in the GH.

Volunteer day at Capel Manor, wind was very blustery and tiresome. Hoping for dry day tomorrow so I can get to Allotment.
