My reasons to be cheerful are more mundane... 1) after 12 days drying my hair in front of the fan heater, I've finally found the hair dryer. Packed inside the paper shredder, of course. 2) a blue tit found my peanut bird feeder less than half an hour after it was hung up for the first time. 3) A redwing was scoffing haws from the little tree outside the french windows this morning. 4) Hubby is coming home tomorrow!
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
If he's still awake I hope @Hostafan1 is smiling at last. Congrats to you and yours too @Dovefromabove and hope you make it 3 good 'uns @Lizzie27.
Lots of good things for you too @Liriodendron. It took trhe Belgian tits and sparrows 3 years to realise the fat balls were for them. Only took a couple of weeks here.
Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.

A wren is hunting around the stone walls and pond this morning. I don't see them very often so it's always a treat to watch while drinking my morning coffee.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.
Good luck to you and hubby @Lizzie27 Glad things are settling @Liriodendron- the birds arriving would be the best thing for me. I can manage without a hairdryer for now - the hairdresser was a bit free and easy with her scissors last week.... I have a little wren who visits quite regularly @wild edges. Always a pleasure to see her. Definitely a 'her' - Sophia. Sophia le wren....
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
@Liriodendron, funny you say that,as today I've got lots of coal and blue tits on the feeders for the first time in weeks. Unfortunately the flippin' starlings have arrived en masse too.
Coal tits are among my favourite little birds. Regular visitors here Loads of starlings here too - but they use the 'sacrificial fat feeder' Quasimodo, the rather ungainly pigeon, was in earlier. I feel a bit sorry for him/her. At least it's well fed Not very bright though - the ground feeder has a shallow tray nearby full of water. Did it have a drink from that? No - it took the scenic route right round to the pond...

Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.

This morning's star bird is a coal tit, making regular visits to the sunflower hearts and now stuffing himself with peanuts.
