Exactly Pdoc. As for SM shopping, OH now accompanies me so I have a system to manage things because, like you, when he first retired it took twice as long and cost twice as much. We have a list on the side of the fridge for anything that runs out and then I add meat/fish/veggies according to what we're planning to eat that weekend. He gets sent off to do the Tonic, wine, coffee and cheese and queues for fish from the wet stall, thus keeping him away from impulses in the rest of the groceries and butchery section and then he does fruit while I do veg. Took a wee while but we now have it down to a fine art and much lower expenditure.
Very bright and sunny today but perishing. Getting soft I think as it's nowhere near as cold as we'd get in Belgium but it's all relative. I have had a lazy morning reading whilst hemmed in by 2 cats and a dog, all wanting cosy cuddles. Now the dogs are sprawled in front of a warm log fire.
FG - be careful with acrylic varnish. 3 coats max or it goes milky. You don't have to paint everything at once. You have time now.
Wonky - sounds like a proper celebration has been made. Good. It is a birthday of note, after all.
Pat - great that your dams are now full. Our pond is too, finally, and the ditches along the lanes are too. Bonzo like to swim in them when out on walkies. No sense that dog.
Chicky - hope you got the car out OK and had a safe journey home - and anyone else having to brave the great outdoors today.
Stay warm and safe everyone. Good weather for seed porn.

Afternoon all. Home from the coal face. @Fairygirl, I've just asked Hubby if he ever uses water based varnish " No I f***in' don't: it's f***in' crap" " all this water based stuff is the came: total crap"
I haven't had a problem with it being milky this time Obs, but I know what you mean. I know I have the time - but you know what it's like, if you don't keep going you leave things half done! I've had a bit of water damage in several bits of the house so they all need attention. Every room downstairs was affected with the extension, so there's already been a fair bit of repainting done, but it makes all the existing paintwork look duff, so time to get it sorted. I'd agree with your OH, Hosta. It really is sh*te. The wood paints are as well. I also think it's poorer than it used to be. I had new windows put in when I had my flat several decades ago. All hardwood surrounds, and they were varnished. I'm sure I used a water based one then and it was much tougher. I used yacht varnish [spirit based] on one of the other windows here, but it wasn't any better. I wondered if the formula/normal use meant it was more suited to an outdoor environment where there was moisture on it. I used it on my little shelf outside, and it's great. I'm probably too fussy as well, but I get annoyed if I can't get the finish as good as I expect. How was work with the great unwashed today then?
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
I made it home yesterday Obxx - just got the car stuck when I got to our driveway. Its still stuck, but forecast says a thaw is on the way. Will work from home tomorrow anyhow.
Just been out for a walk in it - lovely snowy scenes, and not too cold 🥶
Now curled up with Marjory Fish’s We made a Garden 📚. Thanks to LG for the recommendation 😀
Lovely pics, lots of busy people It s been horrid here so been doing some research
Chicky you need an argocat! Personally I want a tank glad you have the option to work from home
Punk we have the opposite problem. Oh usually forgets the list so buys all varieties of an item in the sure knowledge one will be right! Hope Moira none the worse. She will be whacked tho, wee aperitif help. I remember some physicians recommending a glass of sherry to stimulate the appetite. They also recommended a wee lie down after a No2🤣
leg of lamb cooking away nicely, the night for it with a nice red🍷

OH and I do the weekly shop together. We use the Obelixx method, but I hang an easily recognisable shopping bag on the trolley and leave it in the central isle. Then OH knows where to put stuff and where to meet me when we've done.
I have made bread and made 10 jars of marmalade and cleaned the spare bedrooms that the family were in for Christmas. I had the horrid cold lurgy around Christmas into January then we went to Norfolk so never got round to it.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
That's good BL. I made marmalade last week and used some tonight in bread and butter pudding. Very tasty. Possum flies back to Namur tomorrow so we'll be on mega clean on Tuesday and then I have to start on painting. Today, however, I have started a convergence quilt as a practice to see how it goes before I do one with posher batik fabrics.
LP - hope the lamb was good. We had roast belly pork as Possum gets crackling withdrawal.
