Morningall/afties, evening Pat. Glad you've got power. Been slightly absent here as I decided I would limit myself. Too easy to sit fannying around all day and doing nothing productive I've been painting and varnishing- lounge now, and also into the front hall. The upstairs all needs a coat of paint too, so I'll get that done over the next month or so while it's not possible for any outside stuff. I'd leave the car chicky. If the temps are above zero, it'll defrost itself well enough Good to hear Moira is doing well, doc. Keep up the good work though That's annoying Dove, especially when it isn't something you can easily fix yourself. I agree Wonks. What's the point of trying to be more environmentally aware if the process involves another method which does as much damage? Glad you had a good celebration. Is OH 21 again? Snow's stopped here now LP - it's sleety rain. Hopefully the frozen bits of the garden [which is most of it] will thaw a little bit. They haven't seen plus temps for a week. Think everything has survived the severe frosts/ice, but if things die, I can't get too excited about it. I can always replace them. I'm not very sentimental about most plants. Not sure how well the peony has survived the roughcasting, despite covering it. Such is life.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Morning Fairy 😊 sounds like your using your retirement productively! It's lovely having time to do the things you have wanted to for ages! And the energy!! OH turned two times twenty one plus eight 😉 still young at heart! 😁
Oooh nice, Wonks - a good birthday age I haven't quite got used to the fact that I can get up each day and carry on doing what I started the day before. I still feel like I'm just on holiday for a week or two!
Been reading a bit more too, and perusing [and buying] seeds. Decided to grow some mange tout again, and I'll hoik out the Hebes I had in some big pots and grow them in there. Maybe in a border too. like I did in a previous garden. One of the Hebes is brown bread, so time for a change anyway. Chard ordered too, as it was a success last year with the little pack of seeds the girls got me.

Morning all. -5° this morning but sky is mostly blue. I have done nothing apart from read my book, read the Sunday Times online and put a load of washing in the machine. I must put some bread mix in the bread maker, OH is complaining that the bought loaf is stale. But it did come out of the freezer.
Then I will make marmalade from the oranges I boiled yesterday.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Fairy it must be wonderful... Think retirement is basically free will! You enjoy yourself! 😁 I'm expecting lots of garden projects and experiments with all your extra time! Hello BusyL 😊 sounds like a lovely morning to me and just what Sundays are for! I'm at in the garden... Frosty but bright sunshine watching the birds on the feeders and taking pictures of snowdrops and crocus that have finally dared open 😀
I'd much rather have minus 5 than the sleety rain we have just now. So much nicer. We had some lovely thick frosts which always look great, especially when the sun melts some of the trees and hedgerows, and the shaded ones are still coated, and you get that beautiful contrast with a blue sky. I should have gone and taken some photos, but too busy to do it. You could alway breadcrumb your other loaf BL. Handy for toppings on fish or chicken perhaps? Is it just me or is varnish totally rubbish now? I think it's the fact that it's water based now. The old carcinogenic stuff that needed turps for the brushes, and could shrug off a nuclear missile was much better. I've done three coats on the window ledge and I'm still not happy with it.

Hi all. SM shopping as a couple, not my idea of fun, normally on of us does it, but as I was about to set off this morning, Moira decided it would be good for her to come too. Shop took twice as long, probably cost twice as much and there was loads of childish bickering
How can you lie there and think of England When you don't even know who's in the team
Sounds like our usual shopping trip Punkdoc. It's good that Moira decided she could manage shopping and has the energy to bicker, don't let her do too much..........If you can.
I know this may start WW3, but I see Nissan are stopping a new model being made in Sunderland, inevitably leading to a loss of jobs. Over 60% of people in Sunderland voted to leave the EU. Turkeys and Christmas?
