I think it suddenly turned autumnal at the beginning of Sept here. Street covered in leaves and my weather app said it was 5 degrees C this AM, and it felt it! Still got some flowers left to go though. Here are some pics from yesterday:
Beautiful Persicaria Firedance
Persicaria Blackfield and Sanguisorba canadensis Aster season starting with a Symphyotrichum laeve
Invincible, a fat sweet pear
Crab apple Pink Glow
Preferred view of the garden (got my back to the mess)
It is a real pleasure to look through these pictures to learn, compare and generally see what grows so well in each of your gardens. We used to visit open gardens here but being almost housebound now has curtailed that enjoyment, so your photos are filling that void for me. Thank you for sharing your garden wonders with us.
@1Runnybeak1, wish l could help, but to be honest they seem to thrive on neglect! They get a bit of Growmore or similar in the Spring, and if they start to droop l water them, but that's it. All bar one are offspring from an original plant that came from my mum's garden, the original one is still there (the one in front of the phormium). I have no idea which variety it is though.
It isn't - it's only the first week We've had an extra week or two of summer here - it's usually autumnal by the 2nd week of August. Last two nights have been 4 or 5 degrees which is pretty common though. Still some plants not yet flowering which would normally be doing so by now. Acteas are very late, and very little colouring on trees yet which is definitely unusual. Loving all the photos here, especially the Lutyens bench @Victoria Sponge @HidcoteHurrah. The sunflowers are pretty impressive Love your pix @AnniD and @Victoria Sponge. Really beautiful
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Thank you for the nice comments🙂 @Fairygirl, the bench is getting a hard standing this winter, so I can stop shifting it around the lawn. It's starting to deteriorate though, after 5 or 6 years...think the wood is fairly soft but covered in a thick layer of paint. Will source a better quality one next time.
