My white Buddleia also has plenty of butterflies. However, only insects with long tongues can reach the nectar easily, so smaller species of butterfly are not interested.
Yes, that is interesting - I will make a note to look more closely at the white Buddleia in future. I mostly noticed the Red Admirals on our purple/blue versions.
Just caught up looking at all the lovely photos having just got back from hols. Some beautiful combinations. Love the steps Chey and the plant theatre looks great. When I get chance I'll take a few photos and post.
Please may I join in? You all have such beautiful gardens but I want to play too!!
The garden is still very much in the early stages. We've inherited what feels like ALL the bindweed and ALL the brambles and ALL the nettles plus I'm starting from scratch with a lot of the shrubs and plants, but this is one border that I'm proud of - has served me well all through summer, first with lavender and now with the salvia that seems to just keep getting bigger. They were languishing at the back of a shelf in Homebase so I got them for half price and they've just thrived.
Also my sunflowers which don't look overly beautiful at the base but are a personal triumph after many of the stems snapped when I tied them in too tightly. You can see my makeshift splints and bandages. I thought I'd lost them all but somehow they recovered!
You can also see the beginnings of my cardboard and compost autumn covering...

That salvia & grass combination is lovely, @HidcoteHurrah. Nothing like a new garden to get you excited...
