    Loosestrife. Thanks all.
  • Thanks @AnniD that's on my list now!

@AnniD The staircase just cause to mine and my neighbour's flats - it's a joint project!

@Fairygirl It's about 75% grown from seed, 25% purchased plants! The fire extinguishers are full of Lobelia so not much good in an emergency  :D

@AuntyRach That's exactly what I like about it!

     :D
That's impressive growing so much from seed yourself. You must have busy windowsills  ;)

I found a few pix from July and August, some with visitors:

Small Tortie on Clem. Niobe as it was finishing flowering

    S. Pea 'Beaujolais'

Bees enjoying the Allium sphaerocephalons mixed with Lychnis coronaria

Painted Lady on Buddleia 'Black Knight'

I kept the foliage on Mange Tout 'Snow Wind' for a little while, just for the curiosity value. It was very sculptural

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

Gorgeous, @Fairygirl - I love the Beaujolais, the mange tout and the allium. A little envious of all your butterflies. We have cabbage whites and nothing on the buddleia.  Ho hum.
  • I love the lychnis with the allium @Fairygirl, really pretty.

    Thanks @Fire:)
It's funny - we've had the 'once a decade' visit from the painted ladies - huge clouds of them, 20 - 30 at a time,  yet a few people on the forum who are down your way haven't had them at all. Must be the direction they've come in from or summat. :/
We always get torties and peacocks, but red admirals have been pretty absent. Only seen one so far   :(

Lots down in Sussex, I hear. I'm very urban, lots of small, narrow, fenced gardens, many concreted over, in my area. Not great for butterflies, though I and my neighbour try. There just isn't enough to eat.

Great picture of the alliums and lychnis with the wall behind, Fairygirl.

Lovely pictures all, thanks for sharing them😊

That really is a shame @Fire. I live in an area with small gardens too, and not many people are interested, but we have farmland close by, little pockets of woodland, and a small NT garden, so that probably helps considerably. It's a pity the council insist on cutting the verges for no good reason though. There's comfrey and all sorts along them, and every year they get sheared at the ankles when they're doing their thing  :/
Thanks  @Victoria Sponge. I took some pix on Sunday when it was dry, so I suppose I should sort them out since it's too wet to do much gardening.  :)
