I've never had a problem with them collapsing @Valley Gardener, only if the rain has been really torrential for a long period of time. Usually l just give them a gentle shake to get the worst of the water off (sometimes dislodging some sheltering bees !), and they sort themselves out.

I haven't notice them collapse in the rain either @Valley Gardener. Sometimes I cut of a spire and lay it at the back of the border for seeding when they are ready. Like Anni, I have new Alba seedlings and that ugly coffee one I felt sorry for (forget its name).

Rain stayed off until mid afternoon but it's chucking it down now. No GW to look forward to tonight ☹️, but here is a mophead hydrangea to cheer you all up, because they just love the rain:

@AnniD I think I shall pull my foxgloves out but it will leave quite a space and don't know what would replace them at the time of year. I have a big crack in the grass area in spite of all the rain we have had. We had a hose pipe ban last year. Don't know how I would cope if the temperature does reach the 30's. I feel hot thinking about it. I could do with a good hiding place on the allotment.
@Valley Gardener Was googling Hostas but couldn't find anything but saw some lovely plants. My foxgloves didn't mind the rain but the wind would knock them sideways so usually staked them up.
@Purplerain  That is a lovely hydrangea. Since I have become interested in them with the two I have looking good I didn't realise how many different colours you can have. Thought there was only pink or blue. if I decide to fill my new "space" with them I have to be firm and plant them a decent length apart as they can become quite large and yours is a good example. How quickly do they grow would you say?
Think tomorrow afternoon the weather is going to improve.
    Have a good evening all.

My experience is that they are quite slow to grow @Fran IOM.  Mine is almost 30 years old, as I planted it as a child 😊. Even if they do get too big, you can prune them back to a manageable size.

@Purplerain. Thanks for that. In my lifetime they aren't going to get that big! As you say I can always prune them back if they get out of hand. Is your emoji blushing.....

@Fran IOM, l have a white hydrangea that's in a pot, can't remember the name offhand (will have a look tomorrow). The flowers start off white and then turn pale pink.
Have just caught up with GW, maybe when you pull your foxgloves out, you will find little plants where they have self seeded, like Monty did.
I have just ordered some more foxglove seeds (l don't feel as though l have enough !). The "Lemoncello" ones l sowed are showing no signs of life, so l have ordered some Digitalis grandiflora ones. Similar colour, if they turn up next week l can sow them straight away 🤞

    Good morning everyone  :)
Some pretty heavy rain yesterday,  the lavenders in the front garden were looking particularly miserable, hopefully this strong breeze we have this morning will blow them upright again. Must make sure the hanging baskets are well watered!
Hope everyone has a good day whatever you are up to, l will see if l can get the name of that hydrangea and maybe take a photo @Fran IOM.
