@Valley Gardener That coreopsis is a lovely colour, which variety is it? Hedgehog did turn up last night about twenty past ten, but didn't touch the food at all. He did turn up very late and took advantage of the footspa and drinking facilities (at the same time). If I'd got out there 15 minutes earlier, I might have seen him !
Hog looks very confident @AnniD. I always imagine them scuttling along like spiky balls, but yours is very relaxed. I remember that hydrangea thread, but when the poster put the photo up, I thought hmmm..it looks like a lacecap to me. I wonder if it became a mophead again this year.
Lovely images @Valley Gardener and although the pink rose is not yellow, it is very nice. You could name it "Happy Accident".
I got my Achilleas today from SGC and I am really pleased. I potted them both on and they are called Saucy Sensation and Desert Eve Cream. I might keep them potted because I lost a very expensive Walther Funcke due to wet ground.
They are sitting on the table and that pole is my much needed parasol.
Nice healthy plants there @Purplerain, l like the pinky coloured one. I am so tempted to get on to the SGC website, but no, l must be strong ! It is very warm here, in fact l will use the word hot.The greenhouse temperature is 38.7 degrees at 5pm, the sun is just starting to move off it now. The thermometer in full sun is reading 40.1 and the air is very dry. I will water the pots and baskets again this evening and then do a walk round watering anything in the ground that looks really desperate. It's supposed to be 10 degrees cooler tomorrow, so anything else can wait. I have spent the afternoon near a fan reading magazines and eating cherries - it's a tough life!
Good Evening all. There have been a lot of posts since I was here this morning. I tried to do some work on the allotment this afternoon but it was too hot. Attempted to do some weeding in the shade but my heart wasn't in it. Ended up just sitting down and then my daughter arrived so was able to takes some photos which she subsequently emailed to me. After this post I shall see if I can be successful with a couple to start with. Our temperature was only 25c so how you others managed with a much higher one I don't know. Lovely show of flowers there @Purplerain. As I use a mouse with my laptop (as I can't control the other method) my daughter showed me what I could use it for so now I can click on the photo and zoom in to each individual flower! I know that's what probably everyone does anyway but to me it was something new. You live and learn as they say. I probably have a lot more to learn. @Valley Gardener Love the colour of your Coreopsis. What was your temperature? Dog and cat aren't happy with the heat. How is Cush managing? I've just remembered I still have a rose to plant out. I don't think it's the type of weather for planting out. @AnniD That post about hydrangeas was very interesting and the same query as I have about the same time of the year. Thanks for finding that. Hopefully I shall post the photos of mine later. We haven't had such a clear photo of Hedgehog before and all in colour. I should really water the allotment tonight but I haven't got the energy. Sounds like a pleasant afternoon you had. Forgot to say my new hydrangea arrived today and it is in very good condition, well established and the start of a flower. Well packed but no message to say "this way up" so was surprised it was all intact and no damage. Very pleased with it.
Gorgeous hog pic Anni,he's a relaxed little fellow as PR says. Coreopsis label says RB , "Li'l Bang tm Red Elf. Does that mean anything? Finally found a suitable seating set (avoided the swingy things) so picking it up tomorrow, will post pics when it's in situ.
Fran ,glad to hear your Hydrangea has arrived in good condition, you were brave to go out in this heat😁 not too bad here,I've known worse, and the best thing is......the quilt is back on the bed. Rain forecast for tomorrow, but I've watered pots and Clems,I also washed out the bird bath,Sparrows and Siskins are using it contantly.
The whole truth is an instrument that can only be played by an expert.
@Valley Gardener, l did a search and found this https://www.gardenersworld.com/plants/coreopsis-lil-bang-red-elf/ It is a lovely colour ! I meant to say that l saw two goldfinches in the garden yesterday, they were chattering away but didn't stay long. Food will go out for hedgehog again tonight, maybe he'll have more of an appetite.
That's interesting,it's much bigger than last year, very hardy and I managed to get a cutting,it says May to August flowers but the flowers only started last week,I think probably because we had such a cold June.

Blue mophead and pink lacecap. Had a job to remember what I had done previously but managed it somehow. Goodness knows what I do but there are so many photos and other things in files etc. not put there intentionally by me.
