Here 's the young Penstemon, and the big pebbles done when it was raining yesterday.
The "Faith" one is just because I will need reminding where I picked it up, "Keeping Faith" location.

Just popped in to have a look and Carole those stones are superb!! Can't believe what you have done. They will look so good in the garden and a talking point for visitors.

They are gorgeous @Valley Gardener. Glad you did the Faith one as it will always remind you of Laugharne.

    Good Afternoon everyone  :)
@Valley Gardener, those pebbles are lovely. I particularly like the bee one, l feel as though l could stroke it ! You are very talented. I looked up "Keeping Faith" as l have never watched it, it does look good. I remembered reading the other day that the diehard fans wear a similar yellow anorak to the lead character.  Apparently when they were filming somewhere,  all these people suddenly appeared wearing yellow anoraks!
It's strange how the penstemon has changed colour isn't it ?

@Fran IOM usual Hedgehog antics, he scoffed the lot in one sitting. I had gone back to hiding 2 or 3 cat biscuits inside the meat for the last week or so, and was congratulating myself on my success when he got wise to it. Yesterday,  there were the 3 biscuits left at equidistant intervals around the dish. So neat !
I have mixed feelings about the Great Garden Challenge this week, they held the 2 semi finals together. The first 2 teams l felt were too close to call, but the other 2 were completely different. The first team of 2 older gentlemen did a fairly conventional garden, the other team were a young couple just starting out. They got their measurements wrong, had the wrong colour paint delivered, didn't get the base levelled ready for the massive concrete bowl water feature (holding up installation), didn't read the brief properly so had to install a last minute shelter, and lastly hadn't finished when the time was up !
You guessed it ,they won ! One of the judges commented that it was nice to see a contemporary take and l think that's why they got it, but it did annoy me a bit, they just seemed so haphazard and disorganised just as they had in the previous round. Still it is entertaining,  and l like looking at the plants !

Hope you enjoyed your walk @Purplerain and the weather is okay for you. I am so glad l haven't got marestail to contend with. My bugbear is small purple leaved oxalis, it's a swine to try and and get out, and it has made it's way into the lawn. OH not happy !

Have pottered around garden doing the deadheading, l was methodical for once and worked my way round in a circle,  apologising to the bees as l went. Normally l get sidetracked (usually by Mr B ),   but not today. All the pot saucers and trays were full of rainwater so tipped them out.
Right, l have definitely waffled on enough, hope everyone is having a good day :) .

    Good Evening all,
Another warm afternoon with a lovely cool breeze. Spent a solid hour with the shears cutting down one of my fuchsia hedges. They do annoy me as they grow so quickly so have cut it down low. This is one within the allotment and not the high one going up the side of the allotment. I bet tomorrow there will be new growth sticking out somewhere.
Have another one to tackle but may just have a rest and do something else. I still have one hydrangea to plant out Macrophylla Miss Saori and while it has been in its pot it has flowered and is really pretty. A lot of dead heading to do and rose petals to pick up.
Had to smile, although it hurt, as an apple fell from the tree on my head! What were the chances of that. It bounced off.
I think @AnniD that Mr H is rather like trying to get a cat to eat a tablet. You can guarantee there will be a clean plate with one tablet left behind. At least he has let you know he does not like the biscuits unless he was leaving them for mouse.
Hope you get rid of your marestail @Purplerain. Hope it didn't rain when you had your walk. Sounds as though your stones are as heavy as the ones they have in TKMax! @Valley Gardener.
Plenty of bees and butterflies again today. The bees weren't happy with me for cutting the fuchsia but I just kept still and then they went off realising there was plenty more to be had. I think I shall cut some of my lavender down. It has gone absolutely mad and not flowering as well as it should but the woody part is quite high up and I know I can't just cut down to that or it won't grow again. Will have to investigate. Maybe pull some out. Grass still not cut. What happens if you try to cut it when it's still wet? May have to give it a go.
Time to say Goodnight all hoping tomorrow will be a good weather day.

Good morning all. Have been up for a while as today is carpet fitting day (hopefully). No idea when they are coming, but I like to be ready.

Funny you should mention the yellow jackets @AnniD because a lady in one of my groups had that exact jacket on the other day. I complemented her on it but the penny hadn't dropped that she might be a Keeping Faith fan. I am up to S1 Ep 4 now and it just gets more intriguing as time goes on. I caught up with the garden challenge, but it's not my favourite programme I must admit.

@Fran IOM I laughed at that apple bouncing off your head. Hope it didn't hurt lol. As far as I know the marestail will never be gone. I have to learn to treat it as just another weed, but it is a pest. The walk was lovely and we seem to be getting the rain late on and overnight rather than during the day so that suits me fine.

@Valley Gardener what are you planning on doing today? Has the weather improved at all? If not, you can always turn to your other talent of painting.

    Look what I bought yesterday:

Enjoy your Thursday everyone. Will report back about carpets 😀.

    Good morning all  :)
Hope the carpet fitting goes well @Purplerain. It's a big upheaval, but worth it.
Nice hydrangea,  wonder if it will give @Fran IOM any ideas ? 😁
Usual Thursday awaits - having seen that photo, l might just have a look at the plants in Morrisons as l pass by.....
Right, better get on, wonder if @Valley Gardener will be doing any more pebble painting?  Hopefully the weather will be good for everyone.

  • @Purplerain.   Exciting day for you with new carpet being laid! As you say it will be a day in as you never know when they will turn up.
Yes the weather is beautiful now,Tuesday was a blip, but got lots done inside.
Do you have a location for your new Hydrangea? That looks like a cool addition,I like the sound of it.
I've been enviously observing them in other gardens,I just don't have room,as they can get big, have to make do with my climbing one against the wall.

    Good Morning all.
Lovely sunny day so must try and get as much done before the afternoon gardening time. Last to post as usual.
@Purplerain Do hope the carpet fitters arrive early and you don't waste your day waiting for them. I know what you mean about being ready for them. You have been lucky with the weather having rain overnight. Was your Hydrangea an impulse buy? Googled it and the colour white will certainly stand out. Do you have plans as to where you are going to plant it? Another colour for me to think about...
@AnniD What makes you think that @Purplerain's hydrangea will give me ideas! A least I couldn't have as many as I have heucheras. Making sure I give them plenty of room. I have seen some beautiful colours in other people's gardens. Let us know what you buy from Morrisons.  :D
@Valley Gardener Think you will be out in the garden today with your weather. Are you sure you don't have room for a hydrangea? You could always keep it well pruned so it didn't spread too much. Have your sempervivum grown much since you planted them out? Maybe you will just make use of your new garden furniture today admiring the stones.
Will come back later and hope @Purplerain is happy with her new carpet.
